Fun game (mostly - apart from elements influenced by the cash shop) but by far the worst customer service you'll find.
All up I would have spent a bit over $300 on the lifetime sub and various ships. But when my main character became really badly bugged, affecting something I had spent money on in the cash shop - and it was affecting other players too - could I get them to fix it?
I bugrepped it. Months went by. Nothing. I bugrepped it again. Waited again. Nothing. So I lodged a ticket with customer service. After jumping through hoops (taking screenshots etc.) to prove there was a problem they told me they couldn't fix it and I should bugrep it. Which I'd done. They also specifically told me never to contact CS again about this problem or any like it.
Email records from CS were produced.
So nearly a year later I lodge a complaint with BBB. PWE's initial response was dishonest - saying I should have contacted CS, as if I hadn't. They then ignored BBB's attempts to follow up with them for several months until they gave up and advised me to lodge a complaint with the US Federal Trade Commission.
Meanwhile in their forums, their head of community relations took to slagging me off and perfectly innocent posts of mine were being moderated away. And their developers tried to make me out to be unco-operative, when I had been anything but.
Eventually in the thread about this bug I told them about BBB's advice to complain to the US FTC. Voila! The bug was fixed fixed. That's all it takes to get bugs fixed in this game. A year of bug reporting, CS tickets, complaints to consumer groups and threatening them with an FTC complaint.
I had played and enjoyed the game for a very long time (outside Steam), and spent a lot of money on it, but when a company behaves like this - well no game is worth that. Plus given how aggressive and dishonest they were in relation to the BBB complaint and in their forum, I could never trust that they wouldn't mess with my characters.
