DO NOT GET IT game is a MESS
First and formost, I've got a brand new game rig 99% of you would kill to own, so it's nothing to do with MY side of this. Firewall is set corectly, cable modem shows EXCELLENT ping...

..and dang it I REALLY wanted to like this game...BUT...

This games been out now for what, 3 years now? The Server is a disaster. Even when you can FINALLY make an acount and FINALLY download the game, it drops you more then a crackwhore does her babies. Don't bother trying to use the "relog back in" either, it doesn't work, ever. You have to completely exit the game, sign in again, restart from scratch and spend 5 minutes waiting for the re-load.
I tried playing for almost 8 hours, out of that I droped (when I started to keep count after the first hour) 216 times. The absolute longest I could stay in-game was 24 minutes.

The excuse of "Server Load" and "high Population" doesn't cut it. When you have a game like this you dang well make sure there is ROOM for new players to join and play, otherwise your showing all of them what a piece of junk you have and cutting your own neck because they'll walk away. No one is stupid enough to think they made "room" for only a set amount and that's it, that's all they want to make money from. That it's been out this long, and this is the kind of game play we can expect, will make a lot of people give it a pass...

Like I am.

Your PC must suck than as I have everything Maxed with 4x AA with no problems on a machine with a Weak Video card (Core i7 - 2600 3.4Ghz, 16 GB RAM, nVidia GTX 285 & nVidia 9800 GT [PhysX Only])

I also have experienced no server disconnects aside form the standard "You where Idle for 60min" disconnects.

Also 5 min to restart the game is a tells me that your PC might be fragmented, loaded with bloatware, loaded with malware/viruses, not as good as you claim. It takes me about 35 sec from launching the launcher to selecting my character and 10 more sec to load to Sol System.

OP is a moron, the game is fine.

Well first of all I wouldnt kill to own a Pentium 75i Sir. Secondly, I have none of those problems you just mentioned. Perhaps your pc needs a fresh new install?
My game just starts, and never does anything weird.

So either this is a troll atempt or you need to check that ultimate rigg of yours.

Initial set up can be a chore but once running it's a solid game system. All that difficulty is on your end in the hardware. On the whole I find STO a brilliant but shallow gaming world.

I'm running it on a stock Gateway from Walmart and it runs fine for me. Count me in the 1% that is glad I didn't over pay for a rig that cannot run this game.

Anyways,, here is a link to my computers specs:

It is easier to blame the game than it is to admit that the problem is yours to fix.

I played on an old AMD Athalon II X2 240 2.8GHz dual core with an XFX ATI HD 4670 and 4GB DDR2 RAM and was able to play it with medium to high settings no problem. I now have an AMD FX 8350 4.0GHz eight core and an XFX ATI HD 7770 and 8GB DDR3 RAM and I play with everything maxed and have no drops in framerate even during the large fleet starbase event. Sometimes different configurations just don't run as well.

That all being said, your issue with connecting to the server is not always their fault. You have to take into account the connections needed between your ISP and the location of the server. You could very well be a victim of a bad connection somewhere along the lines your ISP has to take to get to the game server. Even when checking your internet speeds with sites like speedtest.net you are not getting a true representation of the connection between you and the STO server. What is happening is that those sites scan for the best connection it can get so it can give you results in their most optimum conditions which is a completely different set of connections between you and the STO server.

As for room, there is always room on the servers (there are some exceptions). STO uses instances. Once an instance is full, the server creates a new instance to house the overflow of players and once an instance is empty, it will close the instance. The server does have a limit and if the STO server is maxed I know that subs/lifetimers will get priority log on over F2P players but I never run into the F2P queue unless there has been a big update like the Legacy of Romulus expansion.

Sorry that the game does not work well for you. The game does have its issues but I still have tons of fun playing it and I have been playing since closed beta. Maybe it will work for you one day and if it does, I hope you have fun with it. Cheers! :)

Lol... I have just a low budget laptop and a connection you can call slow... sure I have sometimes Problems, no wonder with my Hardware, but as much as you? Nope...
Do you have disabled on-Demand patching in the launcher? It can cause some connectionproblems too...
BTW: My slow PC needs around 40-60 Seconds to load...

Im jealous, I built my rig and then AMD whips out some new CPU haha. Well now I have my eye on that AMD FX 9000 series CPU, 5.0 GHz stock, YES PLEASE.
