Definetely give it a try
Pretty much the only things that require money are certain ships, interiors, customizations, and the level editor. If you're looking for a really fun, free space combat game (also has Third-person shooter features), then definetely try this one out. You get almost everything for free. (Try it even if you don't like Star Trek, the space combat is epic.)
Anyway, hope I helped with my recommendation!

Strangely I agree, I always say I hate this game, but I have over 800 hours on it...

It boggles the mind.

I love this game I just hate how inactive my clan is, and I am very slow and getting a new one. Current one is amazing for other games love playing warthunder with them, and look forward to joining bf4 division, but my god is the klingon sid of the STO division dead, its like 3 alts and they would rather send their stuff to their feds then use it on the klingon station.

Although now they would be sending them to their romulans who are feds... If romulans had a carrier, I love my KDF carriers.

I took a one year break from this game and just came back recently. At first I was underwhelmed, then the next thing I knew I was staying up until 3 am last night in Nimbus, LOL.

Been playing this game since it came out and only ever had to raise two tickets, you have to wait a day or two but you get a repsonse.

I've put in one ticket, which they never contacted me about other than, oh hey, we haven't heard anything else from you, so we assume the problems fixed. which was 3-4 days after I'd put in a ticket.

I'd manged to get through with some stupid tricks and several re-spawns, but the problem wasn't fixed...

Though that was the only significant problem I had, that puts them under them under less than impressive service.

Not disputing that there customer support leaves a lot to be desired, however my point was that I have only every had to raise two tickets in the time since the game came out and one of those was to do with billing not gameplay. While there customer service aint great, if you almost never have to use it, who cares?.

I have yet to put in a ticket, and it is the only f2p I can honestly say I never felt like I had to spend cash in. To me that is the best part, I played a lot of f2p and liked it but I always hit that wall where if your not paying cash for somehting you feel like your missing out on quite of the game. Wether it be simple not enough money to do you prefered stuff like in world of tanks or WarThunder where money feels really tight with out premium stuff, or other ones where you literaly can't do certain content with out spending some money.

I have purchased, new charactor slots, and 2 ships in my entire STO history. That is it, I didn't need the ships, or I could have grinded for them selling dill for zen, since I bought both before dill was used for a whole lot other then ships and gear. Heck before the drastic changes I was saving up my zen using the dill market in game, and got a bank upgrade lol.
