I never got problems with that and at least 2 of my friends play it since yesterday ... so i only guess you need to uninstall and reinstall it on steam or just take the client from the main page (it works better than the steam one from my point of view) and just for your information: You just insulted the very best F2P MMO 2012 it was decided against all ods that sto is the best (even when others tell you other things and yes there is a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of people ingame who say it sucks-,)

Doesn't matter if its the best or not. For the 2nd time i verify game in steam and again its missing 10 files and has to download 4.5gb. Im not saying the game sucks at all, I would'nt know seeing as im going through hoops trying to get it to play. Im not gonna give up on it tho just venting some frustration. lol

Whiteboy, try downloading the client through www.startrekonline.com instead of through Steam, that may help. You may need to create an account at www.startrekonline.com to play the game, I don't know for sure, lifetime subscriber from day one here.

*Edit - Client download link: http://sto.perfectworld.com/download

Definitely go for the website download and you do need an email - a hotmail.co.uk/.com will work because a coin lock kind of thing (account guard) is in place.

This will get you some of the game, the whole game can be downloaded if you 'disable on demand patching' - very handy if you are in the UK

Since this is an MMO the launcher patches the game to the latest version. Since steam dosent have the latest version everytime you verefy files you downgrade to an older version

To be honest, I really like playing the game, and I spend a lot of my free time in STO. I'm trying to spread my love of the game to others, and by helping you play the game that makes the STO community stronger, one person at a time.

If you do want the game to run from steam (maybe you want to log your hours or maybe you want to show what you're playing to your steam friends) you will have to make it not update automatically in steam by going to the game properties, updates and select Do not automatically update from the drop down list. If the patcher doesn't connect, like it didn't for me, you'll have to download a separate launcher file. You can follow the instructions here to download the separate launcher http://sto-forum.perfectworld.com/showthread.php?t=378891

I would suggest 'run as admin' when starting steam.
