I believe so as well. I don't like subcription MMOS, which this is no longer and even I gave them some money despite the fact that I don't need to. Compared to TOR this game has its own ups and downs.

once you get a nice fleet and a good crew... this game gets pretty good...

only if you got the time to waist, when the game or steam crash. but if you know your computer and know how in computer science, then I guess you can make it. like me I have no idea how things work but I love to play the game, but not the crash I experince from time to time.

If you like ship combat then it is a definite yes. Ground combat is a little long in the tooth, but can still be fun. PvE is fine but meaningful PvP is nonexistant.

But the biggest thing this game has going for it is the relatively unrestricted access to content. All the story missions are available to you, as are any expansions that are added later. Gear is mostly just for bragging rights and, again, it is mostly available for effort and only items unique to store bought ships are off limits to a F2P gamer. However, If you are willing to work at it you can even trade in game dilithium for the real money currency if you absolutely must have that retrofit ship you always wanted. If you want the most benefit for theleast cash then sub for one month and get the steam starter pack if it ever goes on sale again.

This remains the only F2P that I have given money to (I even plumped for a lifesub). And whilst I get bored of it on occasion I always end up coming back.
