Deepspace encounters need a level cap
Seriously.

This is getting utterly infuriating.

Doing deepspace encounters at your own level is perfectly fine. You can pick off all the little enemies around a cruiser, and then engage the cruiser and slowly whittle it down.

And then some little ♥♥♥♥ level 40+ with a battle cruiser flies past, kills everything in a single strafing motion, and then moves on and kills literally everything else in the map.

BS at its finest.

But it's fun to be so powerful...

And so it should be.

In your own instance.

Having level 30-40 ships in every single ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ instance farming the ♥♥♥♥ out of everything, destroying capital ships in a single pass while people the proper level to be there get absolutely nothing is only fun for the ♥♥♥♥♥ farming.

It's absolutely zero fun for a new player who gets to just watch the targets they're attacking get destroyed instantly and then they get absolutely nothing in return for it.

Dude leveling up is only 3% of the game.
Atomicdeath Nov 16, 2013 @ 9:33pm
3%? more like 30 or 40%, i love the game, but its a mindless grind fest at level cap.

Perhaps you should restrict the players above the cap to using shuttlecraft?

Won't matter if they're using weapons that are level 40. One laser on a shuttle craft at that level can still one-shot a carrier ship at our level.

Then cap the level as done at places like Nimbus III, simple. The shuttlecraft have weapons that level with them, not marked weapons, so if you simulate it as to reduce the level, they wont do nearly as much damage.

If 40% of your game time in STO is from leveling up, you are doing it wrong

Nice counter-argument, bro.

I'm sure you were head of the debate team!
