Have to Verify Integrity of Game Cache

I seem to have run into a snag. Well, not so much a "snag" since I can somewhat work around it, but I'm wondering if there's a fix for this that won't require any lengthy re-downloading/installing.

When you click the icon to play the game, it should normally open a screen or client that has you patch the game. It shows announcements, events, etc.

Lately, every time I open this client, whether it be via desktop icon or from the Steam games list, it just goes to a page that's stuck saying "Loading" and I'll sit there a good five minutes or so before closing it.

The only easy workaround is to verify the integrity of the game cache. It picks up 2 files or errors that re-download. It does, and it works and everything's normal again.

I have to do this each time I want to play the game. Again, this isn't a HUGE deal that'll make me curse Star Trek Online forever, it's just one of those things that makes me scrunch my nose and think, "Hmm.. well that ain't supposed to happen..." lol

Any fix for this, or will I have to reinstall the game?
