Steam Launcher causing crash, alternate launcher found.

Just to let fellow players know, my Steam launcher for STO no longer works. As soon as patch for game is checked, the game crashes after the Cryptic splash screen. I found a fix by bypassing the Steam launcher here.

I'm reluctant to load the ARC launcer which has been promoted of late. Hopefully Steam can come up with a fix.

Dude, you're my hero, thank you! Never had that happen before, but the game works fine on my brothers PC.

Strangely, mine now also crashes on the cryptic splash screen. Never had a problem before. Reinstall , verify files, cryptic launcher error checking all make no difference.

Edit - The launcher above works tho.

Are all of you using the beta of Steam too? Seems like that may be the issue.

No beta for me, but the whole problem resolved on it's own login is now fine.

Good luck with ARC infiltraiting your system. Some people have a hard time completly removing it.

Haven't installed arc. Don't plan on installing arc.
