Performance Graphics Problems.
I have two graphics issues, and am wondering if anyone else gets them. Or do I need to look for a fix, or will STO be fixing.

1. During Starbase 24 PvE, I get massive frame rate loss. Sometimes I drop to 4 frames per second. My system is way more powerfull than it used to be, and it ran better before. My PC is definitely powerful enough to play STO. I have looked in task manager to see I am not bottlenecked by CPU or RAM. Also I checked GPU-Z to see I am not using 100 video load.

2. During some PvE like the Crystalline one, I lose effects. I can't see the beams firing, or torpedos. If I change camera angle they sometimes return. It makes it very hard in battle, coz I lose sight of what I am targetting.

Any ideas or help will be gratefully appreciated.

Reduce effects, its the spam from so many players. its is only relevant in STFs of 10 or more participants. Which would Include PvP activities. There's nothing to fix other than changing your graphics settings for that content in which it is bothersome.

Yeah I tried that and it makes no difference. Like I said it's not the hardware coz it's not bottle-necking.

I though it might be internet data lag. but that just causes not being able to move, or being moved back until the data catches up.

Good luck on that then, if its not able to be addressed via reduction in graphical settings then it must be hardware or software based around your end of the connection. Id go with eliminating all background processes you can and mebe resources scan for what is pulling data.

balance your graphical settings for better proformance

Try turning off Ambient Occlusion and Depth of Field in the game options, and turn down physics objects to 100 or less. Might still have problems in some of the more dense environments (SB24 and the Undine Battlezone mainly), but that makes those areas at least playable (for me at any rate).

Hiya, sorry I was waya for a while. They sound like viable options.

However I checked my video card in GPU-z and it is only strolling along. Never under intense load in that PVE. Literally it doesn't pull up to boost clocks. TDP runs at about 50%. Ram usage is only 900MB of 2GB. It's only just doing more than idling. Unless it's possible there's one function it is choking on, it can't be the video card.

I did keep saying in my opening post the vidoe card is not under heavy load. Neither is the CPU. I think no-one believed me.
