PVE or PVP still going?
Hello all, used to play ST:O alot. Really liked it, but moved on some time ago. Well, I decided to come back and see whats going on and the one thing that I really used toi like to do is PVP and PVE, well I go ahead and log in and Queue up for those via the jounal..... and..... nothing.
Does that aspect of the game no longer have such a big appeal? Im a Captain, and am usualy the only one in queue still it finally just drops me. Just wondering if the PVE and PVP just died or maybe Im just too low level or is everyone somewhere else. Thanks in advance.

If you are behind the curve equipment and ship wise, PvP is worthless pain. PvE is the same as always, except for STFs. The newest ones are hediously overpowered and poorly designed for the 'plot' involved. Endless spawns with massive invulnerabilities regarding Voth and Undine space missions. The reputation systems are designed to force you to grind out content you will not enjoy.

PvP- Gonna disagree with AbSynth somewhat. I have 0 (zero) fleet weapons/items/equipment etc. I only have items I was able to buy (as a free player) on the Exchange (Market) . I am able to compete in PvP. There are some "one sided" matches, but that's because of "pugging" (playing with random people) it's just bound to happen. I use a science ship and focus on disabling other people. This works very well in PvP. (I'm an engineer) Just scramble sensors, gravity well, tractor beam and tykens rift and you will bet set. Which abilities you use > gear. But yeah, earning up some of those fancy Dilithium items would be nice (Reputation gear, 'Fleet' gear, Dilithium Store) HOWEVER- Expect to wait like 5-10 minutes to a PvP match to start (a new one) and less time if you join a match in progress. Capture the flag is about the same as deathmatch (sometimes slower)

PvE- There is a ton of new content. New missions that give pretty decent gear. Yes you do play the missions over and over, but you could play all of them and it would take hours. So if you play each one and rotate them you wont get bored, and it wont be "grinding". It IS grinding when you are trying to gain X or Y reputation (and only that type). The enemies are varied, but it used to be borg, borg, borg. PvE 'Queueing" is very, very fast. Sometimes nearly instant. If your level is "captain" then of course the PvP queue will be slow, and here is why: It takes a week to get from level 1 to level 50 (or less) so there aren't a lot of low level players. The game isn't like other MMO's where leveling is slow. It's very, very fast.

If you'd like help, or just someone to slay aliens with, feel free to add me.
A ton of new content? Except for playing as a Romulan I count only a few new Episodes for PvE content. They havent revamped or added significanly to the Fed or Klingon faction specific Episodes, and the Universal Episodes Involve exclusivly Voth/Undine. That plot culminated in watching Earth Space Dock getting trashed. Don't play those on Elite if you are wanting to get through it without grinding your teeth.

If by a few you mean 15+ then yeah... thats' few. And each one is about 30-50 minutes. So nearly 15 hours worth of content.

On top of that the amount of End Game content is quadruapled in the last 2 years.

On top of that the amount of Ships has increased by a brick ton.

The game is far less buggy and glitchy. I've rarely encountered an issue playing with friends (which, back 2 years ago... It was common)

There is a lot more gear, even if it's less accesible (through reputation, fleet)

I can't speak about Klingon side, I've never been a fan of Klingons.

Romulans was DEMANDED nearly by the fans. It has been asked for from the begining. So putting it in was +1000 points to them. Also the Romulan story is a wonderful one, worth reading and paying attention to (unlike some fed episodes) and was basically a re-telling of Battlestar Galactica

They have revamped episodes... This didn't happen 2 years ago... So yeah. The fact they give 2 fluffs about old content is just amazing.

They give out awesome rewards (in general) like getting sweet Bridge Officrs, like Jem Hadar, Breen, Borg, Reman... all for free.

They've made episode rewards half decent. Dominion episodes have a 'set', Dyson sphere has a 'set', all the reputations pratically have a 'set'. Giving players a 360' beam without grinding away reputation and whatnots.

They've upgraded the ships so they have more functioning roles. Science ships can increase their healing by 40%, or their damage by 40% making them effecient assasins/snipers or healers. Cruisers have been given a team leader ability.

So I'd say in the last 2 years they have made some good changes. Take a look at the other Cryptic/PWE game, Champions Online. Updates? HAHAHA. Lockboxes /are/ the updates. New episodes/missions? Nope. New classes? Sure... if you buy them. New travel powers and vehicles... if you buy them. I still love Champions Online, but that's because the game itself is good. But has it been changed, updated or made any better in the last year? Fluff no.
