can't load saves

So I assume it has something to do with possibly an incompatible mod (i have heaps of mods). Or maybe it is cloud?

When I go to load a game, the images for my skills are black, my screenshot is black and nothing happens. it just returns to the menu.

Help?

This sounds like a cloud problem -- I had something very similar happen with black skill icons. That probably indicates a corrupt save (sorry), and the cloud is notorious for corrupting them (it causes miscellaneous problems with other games as well).

Try turning off the steam cloud and adding "-nukesteamcloud" as a launch parameter for the program (in your steam library, you can right-click on the program name and select properties).

thanks! thats what i tried, and it was still not loading saves after i got rid of the cloud on the options. but i didnt know about -nukesteamcloud. I reinstalled the game, so I will try using that from now on!!

It's worth noting that disabling Steam Cloud Syncing from inside the Steam Client doesn't always work. If you find you're still having problems, try navigating to C:\Users\########\Documents\Gaslamp Games\Dungeons of Dredmor\ and find the config.xml file. The fourth tag will be the EnableSteamCloud tag, set it to 0.
