[Clichè-Thread] - worth it?

title says everything. is it worth buying? considering i have a 50% off. but seems there's still a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of bugs and crashes and stuff, just dont wanna spend money and get frustrated over it. pls be respectful in the anwser and have a nice day.

It's the best bargain on Steam, so far as I'm concerned. Yes, there are still some bugs, but for most people, the game is quite stable. I do advise you to disable the Steam Cloud before you install it, as that seems to be the source of the bulk of people's headaches (at least it was for me).

In short, Dredmor is a fun roguelike with a sense of humor, lots of variety, and tons of user-created mods. As far as its difficulty is concerned, it's just about in the middle of the road for roguelikes. It's not nearly as challenging as some, but it's not easy either. I've played a lot of roguelikes, and most of them I've never beaten even once -- I've managed to beat Dredmor, though, several times on the hardest difficulty with Permadeath, although granted, that's after many hours of play and many deaths.

BTW, all of the DLC are worth getting as well. They also are incredible bargains.

Agreed, I have almost 350 hours on it. A lot less than that would make it totally worth it.

I'll play advocate of the devil here.

While I absolutely love Dungeons of Dredmor and will go out of my way to recommend it to anyone who will listen, there are bugs. (EDIT: I just re-read my reply and it sounded like I was implying the previous posts said there weren't. This wasn't my intention). Most people experience none or very few, but an unlucky small group of people seem to take the blunt of the bugs. Save-games corrupting after copious hours spent on them, characters losing key stats for no reason - rendering them literally useless, many crashes-to-desktop in one day,...

I personally haven't had much trouble with the game at all, but there is an occasional "rage-thread", so to speak, in this Community Hub, that makes clear not everyone is as lucky. Of course, the satisfied customer is less likely to make a thread to state nothing is wrong, so I'm sure there are less unlucky people as may seem at first.

That being said, the game is amazing for both the hardcore rogue-like enthousiast and the dabbling amateur alike. It'll take some time to learn the ropes, but once you get the hang of the game and mindset in general, you'll be pumping in more hours than you'll be willing to admit.

I really haven't encoutered many bugs. And most of the ones I have were mod related.
