How many times have you beat the game?
Also how many attempts did you make before finally downing Dredmor?
I just died on Diggle Hell after clearing 5 floors. Makes me want to roll a range character now.

I think I had about 6 failed runs before I played on easy with Permadeath off just to at least beat him once. I intend to try again on harder difficulties later when I have a better strategy figured out.

I lost track after years of corrupted saves. So I only beaten it reccently. Dont they have an Achievement for when the game crashes?

59 hours and counting and I've never beaten the game, lol. I always play on Dwarvish Moderation with Permadeath on. Despite never having even seen Dredmor I still love this game though.

Just managed to defeat Dredmor. Easy, permadeath off, smaller floors, dlc off (so I could find him on floor 10). I was dying really hard to his spells, until I realized I had Golemancy's Unliving Wall, which allowed me to trap Dredmor while spamming bolts and throwables from a safe distance (I had to go back to buy as many bolts as I could). Probably the easiest method to kill him without cheats.

Gotten close once on medium difficulty. Pyromancy can go a long way if done correctly.

A grand total of once! (on DM, Permadeath) And I've played for almost 200 hours :-)
Never. The game always end up crashing at some point corrupting all my saves.

Never. I have 37 hours w/o the game crashing once. I play on Moderation or Rogue w/ Permadeath on. I feel playing the game without permadeath ruins the challenge and the strategy of deciding your moves.

Only once. I have no clue how many attempts it took.

I beat it one whole time on GR/Permadeath (not that I would bother keeping track of wins on easier modes). It was with a fairly cookie cutter build. Swords/Shield Bearer/Master of Arms/Alchemy/Tinkering/Burglary/Archaeology. TBH it was really easy with those skills (especially archaeology) and I just use random since then to avoid such an easy game... haven't beaten it again since. lol

To answer your question, it probably took me 50-60 deaths before winning, but it's hard to say for sure.

Beaten twice, first one a while ago on DM using mostly Golemancy (summons for clearing first 5-8 levels, walls and thaumites afterwards), second on GR with Axes+Shields+Smithing+Tinkering+BGH+Clockwork Knight+Geologist (For the Queen! Simply awesome after maxing CK and crafting all that clockwork stuff. Clearing most of the zoo in one charge and after that just lazily stomp and punch the rest ). Always playing with permadeath. Wasn't really counting, I guess it was something like 30-40 runs before first win. Some of early runs were lost to corrupt saves as well. Playing again recently hadn't encountered anything like that, except for a few crashes, but that's probably due to mods.
Currently I'm trying to win EE for the achievement and for some reason I can't do that... Maybe the reason is playing with mods or the fact I'm choosing random skills.

Just finished it tonight with a mage build. I took no weapons skills at all. Used golem rock wall and fire wall spell and it was easy.......tossed a few bomblets too..... also played on elven easy and no permadeath so now i will go back and crank up the diffaculty.
