Mods not loading
So after a little break from Dredmor I wanted to get back into Dredmor with a bunch of mods I had downloaded before the break. After firing up the game I noticed none of my mods (skills, rooms, items, or craftables) were in the game. A quick look at the mod loader only shows mods I added myself (not from Steam Workshop). The mod loader just syas "Steam Workshop: Getting subscription details".

I have tried uninstalling and verifying game cache and none of my Workshop mods seem to be loading. I have also tried downloading other mods for Dredmor and checking if Steam downloaded them (I have updates and downloads enabled for Dredmor) which Steam does. I have also checked to see if I am subscribed to the mods which I am.

My only guess is that I have so many mods that the loader simply doesnt load them or something. Does anyone have any suggestions or a fix for this? Thanks.

EDIT: I've tried disabling Steam Cloud and unsubbing and re-subbing to my mods while on the launcher as suggested on the forums but to no avail.

Same problem here too. Tried closing and reopening steam and reverifying game cache. Plus savegames have NEVER reloaded. Screw these half arsed goons. I'm not buying one of their never finished games again.

I'm actually using another PC right now and for some reason mods are actually working. The only problem is I keep having to fetch the mod list every time I launch the game. Once I have my main PC I will post again to see what the problem was.

Just got back on my main PC and mods are correctly being fetched. No idea what the problem was, Steam Cloud is enabled globally but not on DoD so maybe Steam fixed their super aggresive syncing, or this is a really weird bug.

So just had this problem after forever and ever of not playing this game, and there is a fix. But before I tell you about the fix, I want to make sure you all understand this very simple concept:

Gaslamp Games and DoD have absolutely nothing to do with this issue. This is ENTIRELY Steam's fault. So stop blaming the game. Lota misplaced agression here, when Steam is the real problem.

So, to fix:

1.) Unsub from everything
2.) Go to wherever your mods are kept (usually /user/YOURUSERNAME/mydocuments/gaslampgames/dungeonsofdredmor/steamworkshop/subscribed
3.) Delete anything in this folder
4.) Resub to everything
5.) Load DoD, go to mods tab, mods should now load, but they have to check every time you load the game (aka, they won't auto-load), Close DoD after checking that it's worked up till this point.
6.) Go to Steam Settings, turn ON cloud syncing (sadly, you have to do this for all games, can't be selective). It's in Steam -> Settings -> Cloud and the box you want to make sure is checked is in front of "Enable Steam Cloud synchronization for applications which support it."
7.) Load DoD, when prompted, tell Steam you'd like to upload local content to the Cloud, not the other way around
8.) Wait while Steam does it's thing (took about 5 mins on my comp, so be patient)
9.)...
10.) Profit

Yea I figured it was Steam and their weird Steam cloud syncing but didn't know how to fix it. Hopefully others can confirm if that fixes the problem.

Just so you know, there are other problems that have caused many of us to totally disable the steam cloud (such as save file corruption, old files overwriting newer ones, and so on). I don't think that it affects everyone, but if it does affect you, you will know it by hair loss and bloody fingernails (also, this isn't the only game that it affects -- I had the same issues with Civ 5, for example).

Oh, totally! I had my Steam Cloud disabled. I don't remember why, obviously wasn't cause of Dredmor, but I am sure I had a good reason, and I am sure I'll figure it out just as soon as one of my saves get corrupted or something.

But if you want DoD to sync your mods, you have to have cloud on. That's not DoD's fault, that's just the way the Workshop works. So don't get mad at DoD for a problem that isn't DoD's fault.

That being said, if you look at my steps, you'll notice at step 5 that you can access and use ALL your mods, both traditional install AND Steam Workshop ones WITHOUT turning on the Cloud Sync.

The downside of this is that you have to spend 30 seconds of your time ticking all the boxes next to each mod every time you load Dredmor before you start the game, on the Mod Loader part of the launcher. But if they Cloud Sync is really ♥♥♥♥ing with you and you don't want to turn it on, it is an option, and it's better than nothing.
