Launcher Won't Update
I've been running CO without incident for about a year now on the same computer up until this past weekend. After the most recent patch I can only occasionally get the launcher to update itself. I've had no issues with my internet service, my laptop works fine, and I've sent off a ticket to Perfect World on what to do and tried to follow their instructions, including disabling on-demand patching, enabling force-verify, allowing the Steam executable as an exception in my firewal and a few other things. If anyone has a suggestion as to how to correct this problem I would greatly appreciate it.

Things can get corrupted on both a CO level and a Steam level. Sometimes you have to uninstall and reinstall the Champions program. Sometimes you have to uninstall and reinstall Steam. Defragging works wonders too. Your characters are saved on the Champions server, so its not too bad. If you have bad data sectors or a bad data file that is critical to Champions, you willl run into issues. I wouldn't keep more than 25 games installed on your PC to keep things running smoothly.

Personally, I've had to reinstall Steam two or three times in the past. Big pain in the butt to download everything again, but sometimes its the only solution. I believe if you keep the SteamApps directory (where most of the data is) and the steam.exe, it will help speed up the process and not delete your progress. The steam cloud can help with saved data.

Unfortunately, you are going to have to trouble shoot for the answer, but I would start with a fresh install of Champions, then a fresh install of Steam. That will clear out the BS and give you a clean slate to work from.
