In addition to the foregoing posts i woud add that you should expect your old toons to be wiped. You will have to make new ones; and if your a non paid player like me, you only get two characters to create.
Ah, well if they're wiped there's not really much reason to worry about the old account then.
That's right. It might be different if you had things that you purchased. I never purchased anything which is why my stuff may have been wiped.
Ah yes the famous PWE Grind for Cash aritifical subscription inflating mechanic. Where they pay you wages that a 3rd world sweatshop worker would laugh at to artificially pump up their sub numbers at the same time allowing them to claim nothing is behind a paywall (except that it takes in STO months to grind a single ship)
PWE buys up corpses and attaches strings to them to make them jump and dance to seem alive. They utterly destroyed any fun there was in STO becuase they spend all their efforts on making new cash store items and providing expansion content that revolves around repeatedly grinding the same stale missions over and over in between the artificial cooldown timer they attach to how fast you can earn in game zen.
PWE appologists claim that "nothing" is locked behind paywalls but do the math sometime, factor int he exhange rate of Zen to real world currency and then do the math based on how long it takes you to grind up one item (in thie case of STO $30 for a t6 ship iirc unless they upped the zen cooldown takes a month or three.) and you will see how much they are "paying" you to keep their game afloat so they can wave sub numbers at their investors and claim success.
I played Champions when it was a sub game and soon as it went free to play and they locked entire archtypes and powers behind paywalls I quit and never looked back. I stuck it out longer with STO till the new Delta fiasco and the end game gear locked behind $30 paywalls and months-long grinds.
Yeah PWE is a fantastic company! Even Blizzard is not that greedy.
