Is there another MMO with only 1 faction like this game?
Without the ability to play villains, there is only one faction in this game. Is there another MMO with only 1 faction besides this one?

Pretty much all of them.

Very few MMOs have the ability to pick a faction unless there is PVP involved.
Stormstriker Jul 25, 2014 @ 9:19pm
All of them? Name some.
Bacon Overlord® Jul 25, 2014 @ 9:28pm
What does that have to do with Champions Online exactly?

It's easier to name the very few that have factions.. like WOW. I really can't come up with another one since I'm not much into the few PVP MMOs out there that wage "war" on different factions.

I find it actually nice that CO doesn't have that. The PVP mentality from folks like that and some of the other beat-em-up PVP type games like DCUO aren't really conducive to a supportive and helpful community like we have here.

So there is NONE? You made it out like 1 faction MMOs is the norm. I asked for at least "some" and you can't name ONE? Seriously? Go back to trolling elsewhere. I'm looking for another MMO with 1 faction like this game to play.

But, just to help you out, here are a few:

Neverwinter Online, Elder Scrolls Online, Istaria, Landmark, Warhammer, Everquest, Everquest 2, Defiance, Champions Online, Dungeons and Dragons Online, Fallen Earth, TERA, and pretty much any fantasy MMO out there.... just to name a few.

Hopefully that helps you with whatever issue you seemed to be perplexed by, friend. I get the feeling you're asking for a reason. As if maybe you were just trying to slam the game because you don't like that you can't be a villain on it or something.

But.. you can.

You can't pick the FACTION of a villain, but you're more than welcome to make a villain costume, RP as a villain, do the missions as a villain, even fight superheroes in the various PVP hero games like zombie apocalypse, etc.

There you have it, buddy. Everything you were asking for, friend.

Trolling.

Right. I figured that's what you were doing. You were just pointoing out something negative about the game in order to get elicit a negative emotional response from someone. This isn't your first set of posts with the express intent of derailing threads and causing problems in this forum.

Anyone reading this should be aware that this person is a confirmed troll from another thread and has already shown that he's starting this thread to be combative and cause a fight.

Warhammer Online is dead for months if that's what you mean.

ESO has actually 3 unless they changed that after beta which left me thinking the game was a total waste of the hype.

A game that doesn't have a choice of picking a side has to rely on a main story line or it would just be "go kill X number of Y and come back to me for a reward then I'll tell you where to go next and talk to the next guy." type missions only with no real story.

No.. that's not what I meant because you may not remember, but your question wasn't "list for me the names of MMOs that haven't been dead for months", was it?

Maybe you need to be more specific about what you're asking for... by "faction" one can assume that's COMPETING factions. As in a PVP scenario. Or are you talking about simply different backgrounds that are typically nothing but a different set of skin and body types in a game. If that's what you're referring to, then I think I might direct your attention to the fact that CO has the best character creator of any MMO. You can create whatever you want. You're truly only limited by your imagination. That goes so much further than choosing between different races like some fat guy, a less fat guy with a long face, and some guy with white skin that's also always bald.

But as far as games WITH factions (we'll assume you're referring to the ACTUAL gaming faction) like WOW where the factions are "warring" factions... the missions are the same. Just in different areas. Almost a mirror image of each other just with a different area.

So.. if that's what bores you about a game, is that you can't do it all over again with a different environment, then maybe most MMOs aren't the games for you.

I bet you can find some other game forum that has some factions that you crave. Maybe you can go look for them.

What inspired this is someone said they didn't like a MMO with other people around doing the same objectives. That's kind of what MM part stands for that you see and interact with other people. Which kind of defeats the purpose and makes for basically a single player game.

Then it went on about how people will stop your ability to complete something.

So I want to know what game I can direct that one to where that will be avoided. And since this is a game without an opposing group of players against each other, people who play it might know more.

If that's a butthurt sore subject here, then too many are thin-skinned and taking things said about a GAME way too serious.

And recently it went to the person asking to check out EVE. I barely played that game and for someone with these complaints, my reply was EVE will put you in the fetal position within 3 hours.

I've heard the opposite about EVE.... IF you get in with the right people. It's like going to jail almost.. if you don't join a gang quickly everyone picks on you. Other than that the visuals are insane. I don't have the time or money to invest in that though.

I'll be honest.. I tried a few games here lately you might want to try.

One is Defiance. I played it when it first came out as a beta.. and it was horrible. The controls were clunky, the UI was glitched, there was really nothing to do beyond drive along the roads and look for random missions, etc. But WOW, I started playing again a few months ago and it's become really interesting. They get new content about every week in conjuction with the TV show (that's actually pretty good) so they crossover which makes the game even more interesting. SO if you like third person shooters, you might want to give it a try. They recently fixed the download function on Steam for all of the F2P games so you can download it.

I also tried Landmark which, I thought, was an updated version of Minecraft (in the building aspect anyway). It was fun except they are in beta and keep changing their minds about which way they want to go. So if they take out the caves, I think the game will be fine. If not, I don't see it lasting more than a few months. But, it's worth a play if you like building stuff.

I have lots more but it's somewhat inappropriate for this forum to go into them all. But I've tried MANY games lately since I"m kind of stuck in front of the computer for most of the day while I heal. Hit me up with a friend invite and we can chat about it.

I have heard such bad things about Defiance. Of course that was at the time of release I have to say.

In most games lately they have the annoying thought that putting everyone together at the same time makes it a social experience. For the most part that's true.

But, for some people that's just annoying. Granted, you WANT to have lots of people with you to finish some objectives of some games. The rest of the time having someone just "pop in" when you didn't invite them can become cumbersome. Even CO has that aspect with the open missions and simply trying to defeat mobs to reach a box or a quest objective and someone else comes along and takes it.

But that's the beauty of a socially engineered time sink. Now you have to wait... that makes more subscription time ticking away.

Personally I find the process a waste of time. I think the Dark Souls franchise takes it to the opposite degree. You're basically alone, but you have the images of other people around you, but they aren't directly interacting with your game. I like it better when it's somewhere in the middle. Defiance allows people to pop into everything and anything. There are only a few actually "instanced" (they call it "phases" or "phased") missions where you're on your lonesome. With every person that's there in the true Diablo-style multiplayer, the monsters get harder and so does the danger factor along with the level of the mobs and the type of mobs that will spawn during an encounter. If they don't carry their weight, well.. you just got handed your pink slip since you will not be finishing this task. IT's the one thing I don't like about Defiance.

Anyway.. there is some fat to chew.
Stormstriker Jul 26, 2014 @ 8:01am
That is another thing about Defiance. I tried to watch the show but the first episode just didn't click with me. So knowing the game was connected to the show so much was kind of a minus as well. Nice idea though but can hurt if the show doesn't connect with people.

Some games should try it though. Like the Game of Thrones game actually was too disconnected and so people hated it for that.
Bacon Overlord® Jul 26, 2014 @ 8:59am
Well.. you really don't have to know much about the show to understand the game, but you recognize some of the races and stuff from the show so it works out pretty well. And the pilot episodes (which were combined and called "episode 1" of the first season) was pretty slow. It gets much better as you go.
