This game is great, though the final 90 minutes or so really drag down the experience.
I'm so glad they finally made a Ghostbusters game and that it lives up to the movies. Every actor who has a character in this movie is voiced by the original actor and it is great fun busting ghosts with the team.
Basically, you play a new guy and get to go along with our four main Ghostbusters on missions. The missions are fun, varied, and you end up fighting many of the same ghosts as in the movies. Most notably, you get to fight the Staypuft Man, a high point in the game and probably one of my favorite moments in gaming in the last year or so. It feels right, as does how you control your proton pack. It pretty much looks and feels like you are in the movie, which is a blast. The characters are funny, the ghosts are pretty wild, and the whole game is fun.
Except the last 90 minuts, where the developers blew it. You end up navigating through a graveyard, not a bad idea considering the game is about ghosts. The graveyard is a twisted mess, you are give no maps, and you are hardly given any direction about what to do. This culminates in a boss fight that requires you to use your "capture beam" to toss a certain kind of invincible ghost against a gate. This was hair-pulling, rage-inducing, and I nearly quit.
The final boss is not long after this and it isn't too bad, so the game does end on a bit of up upnote. However, I've rarely seen a game fly along with such high-marks and dip so low for a solid 90 minutes or so. Shame.
Still, get the game. It's a blast.
7/10 - All of the game except near the end.
3/10 - the final 90 minutes or so.
