Does it still not uses the hardware physX ?

Hello,

The game now uses the most recent version of nVidia's PhysX software, version 3. This uses the CUDA hardware on nVidia cards, but also has great multithreaded support so if you have at least two cores, it should be pretty fast. Are you having framerate problems? What hardware are you referring to, exactly?

When I try to run the game on my pc (8 cores - or let's say 4 cores + HT) and Nvidia videocard. It still show's me that it is uses Software Physix on CPU - instead of using Videocard power. Hope you understand me better now.

May I ask what model of video card you have, and what software you're using to show you where the PhysX is running?

Nvidia own drivers having feature about showing PhysX status. Videocard is 680 gtx.

tried both on notebook Geforce 420~. Secondary home PC Geforce 550ti (or something similar) still showing software Physix

So, it would appear that on PC, the newest version of PhysX uses the CPU for most of its features. Only particles and cloth runs on the GPU using CUDA, neither of which we use (we have our own particle engine). Are you experiencing a low framerate when playing the game?

On PS3, the SPUs are used to run more of the rigid body simulation (the movement of actual physics objects), but the newer architecture takes advantage of multi-core CPUs on PC (and other consoles) instead. So if you've got at least 2 cores, you should be fine.

If you run some of the newer PhysX samples provided by nVidia, and turn on the PhysX usage indicator, you'll see they run on the CPU also.
