PC controls
Since this is a port from the Xbox, I'd like to know if there's been any work done to make it work well with mouse + keyboard controls. Or is the PC version meant to be played with a controller?

Thanks, that answered my question. Looks like I'll be steering clear of this.

yes, the controls suck sooooooooooo much - trying to use awsd with a game obviously setup for 8+ axis console controller -- MAJOR FAIL - just glad it was cheap. Thank god decent high res new games are not being back ported from consoles as much since the majority of the console generation is almost 10 years old. The movement actually feels like the ship is floating on a pocket of air too

TB suggests it is ok with the XBOX controller.

Except this is a PC, not an Xbox release.

But you can use an Xbox controller on your pc. Many games have this option.

That would require owning such a device and knowing how to operate it.
It would be nice if atleast mouse movement would be fixed, it's so choppy and slow that I can't enjoy play this game at all. Why is there no options to disable mouse smoothing and adjusting X/Y sensitivity?

This is old but i'll reply anyways.

Skipped the gamepad and used mouse. Did not have any trouble hitting with torpedoes or keeping an enemy ship under constant fire with the machine gun. i did use the mouse own 3-step sensitivity setting sometimes to add or lessen the sensitivity. That worked for me really well.

my main problem with this game is it's shortness and lack of backstory (looks like the world in girl genious steam punk comic but it's completely devoid of any soul). Not the controls.

Using a peripheral, especially a common one, on the PC? UNTHINKABLE!
After getting the game to show up on my dualscreen config, I found that the game had a problem with one of my many many controllers, and one of them was causing it to just constantly register 'up' as if I was holding down the up key or something.
Now, this isn't too new to me, I have come across a small number of games (usually unreal engine ones) that have this problem.
I have a modified dinput8.dll that I copy into a problem games base directory which disables inputs from any controllers other than the kb+mouse. This allowed me to get into the game and start the tutorial. There I learnt that the game has awful kb controls.
There's no way I'm going to go move my guitar rack from the side of my computer desk, reach around to find and unplug my racing wheel and flightstick everytime I wanna play this game. So basically, devs, please fix the keyboard controls. I'd like to play your game, it looks like it might be fun.

i really dont have too much of a problem witht he wsad controls..they are a bit choppy moving, but it isnt game brekaing...still functions, and i can still perform well enough to enjoy the would be nicer with a gamepad, but i seem to be having some issues with that, you need to hold [Tab] to use your boost, and issue commands, but yet there is no option in the menu for me to bind that to any button on my gamepad...not sure if its just missing, or im overlooking something, but its annoying as hell...would rather play with a gamepad, but without being able to hold [pTab] on the gamepad, it doesent go over too well..i guess i could probably remap it with Xpadder or something, but then that leaves me with the choppy wsad mocement still..

The game is clearly designed for a gamepad. It is, as I've just experienced, virtually unplayable with joystick, mouse, or keyboard. (In fact, it doesn't even RECOGNIZE my Thrustmaster HOTAS Cougar joystick, but it does recognize my 3DConnexion controller, which is not for gaming at all, and is useless for that purpose.)

It's not a TERRIBLE game, however. It's a throwback, in fact, to an old game I used to play a lot, called "Shipwreckers." It feels a LOT like "Shipwreckers" (which will no longer run on modern nVidia drivers, it seems... or rather, will not be playable because of a major nVidia graphics glitch). Shipwreckers was "cartoonish" rather than "victorian" but is otherwise, for all practical purposes, this exact game.

I thought the game was MUCH easier using a K&M then a 360 controller

Life is too short, controls for PC version unuseable.
