Cannot create profile

I just boot up the game and it says create profile. My steam name is already in the box by default. I hit enter and it says "Cannot create profile 'mySteamName'" I've tried tons of different names and all of them come back with that message. Any ideas?

I've tried verifying the cache and it says one file will be reacquired and then it never downloads anything. I tried reinstalling the game and its exactly the same. Still can't access the game. For whatever reason it won't let me create a profile. Does anyone know anything about this?

you need to make a kalypso account

Delete the whole 'Hard Reset' folder in your 'My documents' folder and try again.
If this won't help - check whether any of the files inside has a 'read only' attribute - remove it and check again.
You also might try to run the game as administrator - right click on shortcut and 'run as administrator'.

i bought the box set from amazon, i allready had a account it took me me around 2 hours to play the game and when its working it runs super smooth but when i press start on the pc xbox controller i get a small screen

i give up on this game even the demo wont load i get this guy with blood runninf from his mouth then after that i get a small pic with some sparks falling from above and some music i let it run for around 1 hour

What small screen? Your system specs would maybe tell me something - send a dxdiag to hardreset-uspport@flyingwildhog.
Did you even try the things I suggested?

my specs are acer notebook i5-3210m HD 4000 intergrated graphics 8gb ram windows 8.1 my pc says the game is incompatible program detected, i have over 200 games and they all play with no problems

Note that Hard Reset requires a real graphics card (GeForce or Radeon) and it won't run on Intel HD Graphics - all system requirements are available on Steam.

i did get it to work at the begining of the game i killed the first two robots but i could not kill the other 2 bots i could not get into the options, and the game run very smoothly and it looked very good it took me around 15 times to get it to load, i can run these games on 1280x720 on low settings without any problems and they looked like i was playing on a xbox 360 - tomb raider - metro last light struggling with this game but still playable - far cry 3 - dishonored - dark souls prepare to die edition, and i have no problems with the rest of my games, when i was using windows 8 i had a score of 6.4 for gaming graphics and a over all score of 5.9, i would say the game is not compatible with windows 8.1, and regarding far cry 3 a lot of people on steam are having problems getting the game to work with they high-end PCs i have the game on xbox 360 and my notebook runs the game better and it looks better... i do not use any turbo boosters tuneup utilities 2013 has one...

I also get this 'cannot create profile' error. Glad I got a chance to play the original, otherwise i wouldn't even know what this game is.

Any help on the "cannot create profile" issue that started this thread? I am experiencing this issue as well. The game loads and defaults to the mian menu screen however I cannot get out of the new user box.

Nope. I'm still trying to launch it sometimes and the problem is still there. No amount of googling helps either. This is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.

I think if I remember right, the issue is that the profile folder that the game was trying to write to had some sort of permissions issue. I checked write permissions for all users and I think that solved it. That or try to open the folder and see if windows says anything.

I also had that problem and i tried starting steam as administrator and now it's all good (so far...)
