first wave unit
do your units that charge in the first wave actually do anything besides die?

You can see them occasionally kill some of the enemy soldiers in the first wave. Other than that, I cannot tell that they do anything.

shame, i wish they could actually do something, or have a game mechanic involving them

Shooting them is always fun.
I like to gas them before the first wave starts.
Also I think that killing them gives you money.

They play a role in multiplayer, when you can launch waves of your own, but other than that they don't do much.

They seem to mainly play an asthetic role in the single player.
