Is the Red DLC worth it?

I guess I have a few questions about it lol, like what RED mode? as well, I have the normal game and I have the riot shield unit... err sometimes... every few games he'll randomly appear as well I have the riot shield tutorial but I don't have the DLC...

anyways, is the DLC worth buying? I'm enjoying the base so much right now.

The reason you keep getting the riot shield is only one out of the two people needs it to play with the riot shield. So your opponent must have it!

I haven't played the campaign yet but if it is as good as the first it will be worth the money!

Also Mode7 is a small company right now so if you enjoy the game then buying the DLC will really help them out in producing frozen endzone!

I say buy it to support the developers and to try out the campaign. (You can then always play with a riot shield as well!)

When I get the riot shield it's only in offline skirmish... which is the odd thing... I've never got it online only in ofline...

The thing with offine skirmish is a known bug (or maybe a clever promotion? ;-)). If I remember right you will get as many riot shields as grenadiers in any skirmish.

I really like the riot shield, especially in disputed. And Upload is also a very fun mode. For me, Red is worth its money even without the single player (which I haven't touched so far, but also guess that it's similar to the original campaign).

If you really like the base game then yes. It introduces slightly more difficult SP maps and riot shield and Upload mode for MP. Are the mutators also part of RED or were they added to everyone like the hot-seat, I really can't remember.

What's upload? Right now I have the choice of the DLC or Baldurs Gate: Complete Saga from GOG... Right now RED is losing sadly lol, so Upload has to be uber good.

Upload is just another gaming mode like Extermination, Disputed, and so on. Here, the objective is not necessarily to kill all units of your opponent, but a "hacker" (special NPC) which is "uploading" data from a terminal. Your opponent has the same goal with your hacker being the target. See https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c8vpTSau7e4 for an example. Note that you can ask people owning RED to challenge you to a match of Upload, so you could check it out if still in doubt.

But to be honest, if right now you'r favoring Baldurs Gate I doubt that Upload will change your mind.

The Red DLC is pretty worth having, IF you have a friend to play co-op with; the co-op is buggy for sure, but playng together is pretty fun. There are no "dark" missions, which sucks in my opinion, but the co-op campaign is pretty difficult anyway. Odds are always tough, so it isn't a walk-away victory by any means.

As to Upload, it is pretty cool. You can actually challenge anyone to Upload when you have the DLC--just like the shields, only one person has to have it to use online in a match.

Finally, the worst thing about the DLC is the mutators (adjustments you make to the game, like the ability for players to keep moving while engaging) which would be great to use sometimes, but which, when used, F*&K up the shields something serious. Try deploying a shield the way you want with some mutators enabled.

Overall, I'd say go for the purchase if you're a true fan of the game and if you have someone with whom to play co-op. If you just play from time to time, your money could be better spent elsewhere, or save it up for Frozen Endzone which looks pretty cool to me! :-)
