Shotgunner won't shoot
So I'm having an annoying problem. My SG unit refuses to shoot anyone, despite having the advantage in all ways (I am aware of ducking behind cover blocks shooting). This is really frustrating as I play a mean SG and need him for my tactics.
has anyone run into this and/or know a solution ??

So I'm really the only one ? Damn... That pretty much breaks the game for me :-\

Shotgunners are quite unpredictable. I've encountered the same problem few times, but usually simply moving closer helps.

First of all, thanks for your reply.
Secondly, I feel like I've tried everything. From going nose-to-nose with the enemy to performing all other actions available, hoping it would unstuck him. It's just very wierd as I played FS a year ago and not once ran into any bugs.
I just love this game and hope I can find a solution soon.

When units duck and stand up a slight penalty is added before they can shoot. If you duck or stand again before that penalty times out (0.5s I think) then another penalty is added on. E.g. you duck, stand again after 0.1s then you will have to wait 0.9s before your shotgunner will fire.

Could this be what you're experiencing?

hmm.. I don't recall doing any ducking (and consequently standing) with my SG, so I doubt it's that.

Sweet info though !
I Wasn't aware of any penalty when ducking and standing. Is this from experience you know this ?

It's happening frequently on several games or is simply happening on a single specific save game?

I've had it hppen on two seperate occassions. First time, it happened in the tut. Second time was during a campaign mission. I have only been playing for 2 hours or so in the current version.

This site offers answers to pretty much all the basic game mechanical questions (eg penalty from ducking/standing up).

Thanks Maetco, looking up mechanics now. Just hope my SG's act nicely from now on.

Confirm, is happen to me too. In campaign game I was taking a sniper for the flank very close but my ST diden't shot so the sniper kill him. I'm sure I don't give the "no fire order" (I don't remember the correct name) to him.

Yeah, sometimes there are some weird and unpredictable outcomes because of (I guess) the aim timeout mechanic like a mg killing a sg with one bullet a millisecond before the sg fires. At point blank range. With both aim-walking toward each other.

Couple of things, shotgun range sometimes is VERY short, plus I could swear i need to move them before they will actually shoot.
Second, normally if you put a submachine gun to face off a shotgun the SMG will always "win" because it has longer range.
On the other hand, around a corner the SG will win because it has a quicker reaction time than the SMG.
I can suggest that you play vs some friend so you can try different test scenarios, and if you get an odd behavior save the game, and post it online so we can check it out, and possibly send it in to support.
Good luck :)

Hi :)

I deduced that it must have been a bug, cause it hasn't happened since that time. What I did to resolve it (if anyone is having the same issue) is that I started a new game. It appeared to only bug in that save, so after starting over it stopped.
hope this helps.

And thanks to everyone who helped.
