Why doesn't putting someone right on a half-height block reveal a crouching enemy on the other side?
Long title, but self-explanatory otherwise. Seems like a glaring rift in common sense in what's an otherwise pretty solid suite of mechanics.

Just how ridiculous is the range on that concealment anyway? For instance, this[] really shouldn't happen, referring to the guy being rendered magically invisible as soon as he finishes his crouch.

Yeah, how cover vision/bonuses work EXACTLY could use some more clarification, such as more detailed cones to show what your unit can/cant see as far as cover or vision angles or when units are close enough to get a cover bonus and by how much, etc.

Most of the time I just assume I will get the worst possible outcome and plan for that, and try a few sim plays to see what happens.

I agree, I've been screwed by this once or twice and it is annoying. Obviously the guy shooting at the croucher would just lean over and blow him to bits. Luckily most mechanics do make really tight sense, which is why this is so aggravating.
