I tried the preview beta but I had a couple of issues:

1. There's no sound in the game. If I disable the beta I get sound again. I've switched back and forth between beta and stable a couple of times, same result. I should mention that I don't have pulseaudio installed, so audio goes straight to ALSA.

2. The game asked if I wanted to enable notifications, I selected yes, and then I got an error message: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=225627732

Debian GNU/Linux testing (jessie) (64 bit)
Kernel Name: Linux
Kernel Version: 3.12-1-amd64

@diegov thanks for the report, I've fixed the error. Not sure about the sound though, might have to get James to look into that.

I am in the preview beta but I don't recieve any notifications. Steam asked me if I want to turn them on and I clicked 'Yes'. Is there anything else I should do to enable notifications?

@herohascome Unfortunately you currently need to challenge someone who has registered in the game notifications beta. For example if you challenge me (MangoFusion), it should create a notification in steam.

We're investigating removing this restriction.

Just pushed an update to the server. Notifications should now be created even if only one player is using a steam account, making this feature far more useful.

Sorry, I forgot to include the OpenAL library when I was putting together the beta. I've updated it now so sound should be working again.

Hello, I´ve tried a match with the notifications and for the moment I´ve really liked it. I like how it launches the directly into the match and how the turns "replace" one another keeping the list nice and clear.
Are you going to add something similar to frozen Endzone? If it used the same list it would be a nice place to have control over the active matches from both games.

We're definitely going to use this for Endzone. The notifications will show up in the same part of Steam but they will be divided in to two lists (one for each game).

Tried a match with notifications and it seemed to work well. Although I thought it was a little confusing when I got a notification after winning a match and I went to the notification and it said that "I won the game with 50 points, blah, blah, blah". So I clicked the X to get rid of the notification and it prompted me if I did that I wouldn't notified for any future notifications from that game. Of course I would receive any more notifications for a completed game (except maybe comments?), so perhaps remove the prompt for completed games.
