2 months later, and still no fix, no relief for lost progress
Title.

This is just sad. If you go to WotC website there is a thread asking for info about this bug, something like 15 pages long... but still its been 2 months, and that thread is still the only official response. Its happened across platforms so its not just a "Steam Issue"...

I bought 2 copies of the expansion for friends, but they aren't going to install them until this mess is fixed... which seems like it may never be at this rate.

If there is a 2014, and its made by Stainless Games again, I think i'll simply avoid it rather than have 50-60hrs of gameplay wiped out with no recourse offered.

I don't know very much about the save files, but couldn't someone just upload one with all of the decks unlocked, or does it not work like that?

I'm sorry, but this company will NEVER. NEVER EVER. Fix the bugs in this game. They didn't fix game-breaking bugs in prequel either. And this is not the only bug you are describing in this game.
On one evening me and my friend encounter bugs approximately 4 times or so?

And I did take it into account that this crap will happen. The developers are very bad and unprofessional and don't care about their product and wont get far in the industry. The game is still fun. Just consider this.

As far as I understand thing this might be possible. The folder "97330" in the steamfolder "userdata" is apparently where your deck unlocks are saved. Haven't had any problems with lossed data but have this folder copied just incase. Would assume you could use anyones 97330 folder but perhaps I'm wrong on this.

Have unlocked all decks fully except the two new ones which I haven't gotten yet. Lets say I buy both those decks and all my unlocked decks are reset. I should be able to just use my backup 97330 folder right? Am unsure wether or not the file would work if I add two more decks that wasn't there earlier when the folder was backed up.

thanks man you've just answered my question for today's steam flash deal for this game. I've owned the previous 2 versions of this series and was very disappointed with the bugs that were never fixed. It seemed like they were far more focused on releasing new DLC/new version of the game instead of fixing issues.....and MANY times DLC's were used as the patch fix which I've always felt is a low blow.

It looks like they haven't changed their ways, and I'm saving some money today.

Whenever I play on my laptop and then switch to my desktop, I lose all progress. If I go back to my laptop and start the game, I'm prompted to upload my info to the cloud. After doing so, things are back to normal on the desktop.

Absolutely true, this is a real issue, I have had it 2 times out of 2 now. Play at a friend's place, come home, LOST EVERYTHING!!! No way to avoid this: made a backup and tried restoring: all progress still lost. Steam reports over 200 hours of playing the game, I have all but 2 of the achievements and have to go battle Talrand again ...

This is an insane serious issue and must be fixed!

Oh, BTW, I bought 2 deck keys and some DLC, at least those are preserved. But hunderds of hours of gameplay are lost!

Bought it yesterday and really liked it. I played it for something like 5 hours, unlocked some cards. Today when i tried to start the game, got message about synchronization issue. And what happen? All unlocked cards lost. Now I'm testing it by unlocking one card and exiting/staring game again and my progress is not saving at all. Backing up folder with mentioned files is not helping.

And from what I see in this topic, developer of this game doesn't give a damn about it?
I guess I know why. We all supposed to buy those decks instead off unlocking them.

If this is how support from this developer will look like, I'm not buying anything else from them!

Try unlocking cards, going into the Deck Manager, editting the deck, then exitting the game. See if that saves your card unlocks.

Also, the next time it tells you their is a synch issue, upload from your files, then turn off Steam Cloud for Duels 2013.

Got the same problem, I just lost 40 hours of progress because of the message asking to synch with Steam Cloud. I tried to recover deleted archives in folder 97330 with Recuva (maybe the important file is the .profile?), but the files where already unable to recover. And as I see people upset with it and as that there is no solution so far, I think I really lost all my progress. Thank you very much Steam and the always crappy Stainless Games.

Hi, i have the same issue. Every time I play on the laptop the game gets reset'd on my PC. I try tu upload the local file from my laptop but the sync reports an error... I'm stuck playing on my laptop if i don't want to lose my progress.

firstly love the game...read alot of posts and thought id add to this 1 quickly ..same issue/s as other guys progress reset to zero,i have some DLC thats recognized everytime but with unlocked decks you have to go through EACH TIME I RESTART STEAM and get the decks to the way "i like them" rougly 20mins of ..frustration each time i wish to play a single game...really does detract from what ive found to be a good fun multiplayer game please fix????

I lost 40 hours of unlocks thanks to this bug. Not happy! Still have the Steam achievements but I got restarted from zero - asking if I wanted to do the tutorial! Aaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrr♥♥♥♥♥ghhhhh!!!!

Turn off the Steam Cloud Sync, that makes the problem. To someone who wants to have all unlocked again because he lost his decks, contact me, i can help you.

Yeah, I also believe that the steam cloud sync is the culprit here, but then one will have to play the game on each computer, progressing on each system at a time... I'll try disabling that option, make some progress, exit the game, re-enable that option and run the game again, make any kind of progress, edit a deck and save the changes. Hopefully that will make the "configuration file" (or whatever) flag the change and sync properly with the steam cloud.

Meanwhile, for whom it might concern, yesterday, i tried copying the 97330 folder from another computer (the laptop where the progress with decks was ok) to this PC. I started the game on the PC, and everything looked great. I won a game or two, exited the game, and turned off the computer. Today I started the game from the laptop to confirm if everything was alright.. well, of course NOT! So now I've the reverse scenario from what I had when i begun. Now my PC has the proper deck progress, and when i use the laptop to run the game, I get the same yada-yada about the promotional card and the question how much Magic have I ever played... I love Irony but this is starting to be something else.
When i started the game on the PC after trying the laptop (the PC now is the good one) it asks me wich files I want to use, local or cloud, because of the difference between the files. Obviously I want to use the local files, so that's the option I select. No luck! An error message pops up saying that the file couldn't be sync'd with the cloud.

Now comes the part where I ask for... HELP!
