Rule question - Fiend Hunter Exile + murder
Setting - Planechase

I put out a creature. Oldric uses Fiend Hunter to exile it, but my creature should be returned when it dies. However, a Murder is used to kill the Fiend Hunter before it actually exiles my creature. Fiend Hunter disappears first, then my creature disappears.

Is this a bug, or are the rules consistent with paper that my creature should be exiled with no path back due to the timing of these events?

When the Fiend Hunter leaves the field/dies, a trigger is put on the stack that says "Return the exiled creature to play". This trigger resolves BEFORE the creature is exiled, so there's nothing to return to the battlefield. THEN the trigger that says "When Fiend Hunter enters the field, exile target creature" resolves, and the creature is removed. This is how it works in real life as well. It's easy to drop an Oblivion Ring and immediately bounce it back to your own hand and exile your opponent's entire field. To avoid this, wait until your creature is exiled before removing the Fiend Hunter. http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=222007 There's the page for Fiend Hunter, you can see the ruling at the bottom.

that is why erratic portal is so amazing in 2v2, your teammate can cast fiend hunter and choose a creature, in which you will :bounce: fiend hunter, exiling the creature forever!!! bhuahuwawuhaw! I ran a combo similar to this during 8th edition with a similar card to fiend hunter allowing you to essentially be able to run extremely heavy anti creature.
