Magic: The Gathering - Duels of the Planeswalkers 2013

Hate to be an "I Told You So" ... BUT ... I Told You So.
Simple observation and logical deduction and I had this figured out back in 2012 and I knew, as I have told everyone before on these boards, that the hackers were up and running from the start on 2013. CheatNuke.com has the trainer for this game. It is now confirmed beyond a shadow of a doubt that there IS cheats for DoTP. They use of this trainer is NOT hard to spot in game. They would be the players who take forever to act in obvious situations as they are dialing a spell to get what they need. The game syncs alot more than usual with the use of this trainer as well. If your opponent seems to always get exactly what he needs at exactly the right time throughout the whole game and takes a long time to act each turn, more than likely he is dialing his spells. I was persecutred for pointing this out almost a year ago that I suspected they had the deck access hack written from a sub-routine in the game for Planeswalker difficulty and I cannot tell how how good it feels to have been right all along. All one had to do was pay attention. We caught a guy cold busted yesterday before ever finding the confirmation utility. Partner cast Mires Toll on opponent and looked at his whole hand. The very next turn he drew one card and cast two spells that he did not have in his hand when Mires Toll was cast. We knew then it was confirmed. Next problem to solve is how they are skirting VAC by using this utility.

Did the guy admit it?

I called him out on it and he just put a smiley face in the chat window ... that was just as good as an admission of guilt to me.

unfortunatly the game is not VAC secured so there is little that can be done about this. I would recomend editing you rpost to remove links to where such trainers are found otherwise you will see a rise in numbers.

Anyone who has ever looked at the Leaderboard knows for sure this game can be hacked. But who cares? Is it really that big a deal if there are a couple of lame hackers?

I'm sure it can't be very satisfying for them knowing the only reason they win is because of manipulating the engine.

Well, that's quite obnoxious, and does sound like an admission of guilt to me too. What a clown.

Thanks for the post letting us know. It probably won't stop me from playing the game unless this becomes very widespread; if it does, I guess I can always just play with my friends.

Crap...That doesn't look good. I hope it won't go out of control, sad losers...

Sounds like a very lame way to stay on top. If you wanna play with people you trust, consider adding some to your friends list. My boyfriend and I play all the time but only casually and in 2HG mode. Even if one of the opponents was getting all his cards in 2HG, it wouldn't promise a win, but it'd help. A mill deck like Jace would just end them if they were cheating. Jace + Rogue Gallery would just be brutal.

cool, where's the download link?

kidding...

Great, I never managed to get evidence of cheating. Just the strong feeling that the amount of luck was beyond the game. But thanks for calling it out.

Are there more indications that someone is cheating? Like waiting a long time before they play cards even if there is no lag? Or pauzing whenever you play a card eventho they are good players and seem to have knowledge of them while not playing a deck with counters?

They're not. DotP doesn't use VAC. At all.

They definitely take a long time to make a play as they have to "Dial Up" the spell they need atm. They also cause alot of game Syncing and lock ups. Watching their card count helps too as sometimes the card count doesn't drop when they cast a spell. Also something I discovered awhile back ... watch what card they cast when it comes to sorceries and instants as while they can overwrite the card in hand and use it .... when it hits the GY it turns back into whatever it was that was overwritten. Just little observations I have made over the last year or so

Your most recent post conveys the impression this happens all the time. I play this game a lot, and have never encountered anything you've described. I see long turns and/or see my share of syncing issues but I've never had a reason to suspect cheating. I'm not saying it didn't happen and the Mire's Toll example seems telling - but how often do you actually see this? How many players?
Muerkier Feb 5, 2013 @ 8:23am
You would be surprised how many times I have flagged cheaters in this game, If I had to guesstimate a percentage of times I suspected a cheater based on prior mentioned conditions I would have to estimate around 30%. That to me is a very high number. Like I said, cheaters are not hard to spot if you know the game well and how the mechanics of it operate and under what conditions but my whole point from the start was that I called the game compromised back in the 2012 edition where I first started spotting discrepencies in the game mechanics and card outputs and the law of avgerages was being trashed all too often for my taste but when I brought this up a year / year and a half ago I was ridiculed and told nooone was cheating that I just sucked and yadda yadda yadda when I knew better. I have been in Magic since its inception back in 1993, been a former Head Judge and Judge for the local tournament circuit back in Magic's Hay Days and know exactly what I am doing inside the Magic realm so-to-speak and I found it incredulous that noone would entertain the possibility that there was a hack out for this game. Blew my mind. I got over it but once a friend of mine stumbled across the trainer and sent me the link ... I was happy to see I wasnt going crazy and that my observations were solid.
