Magic: The Gathering - Duels of the Planeswalkers 2013

Worth it?
I know they're planning on releasing a new game every year but that doesn't bother me, as long as they're people to play with! I used to play the original all of the time on my xbox but when it was rereleased on PC, within a few weeks/months I had problems finding players during my weird gaming hours. Single player is ok but cuts the time I will get out of the game by 75%.

Also; any game breaking bugs to know about? Reasons to stay away from this game?

I have never had trouble finding a game online at any time; the PC version has a larger player base than the xbox version. However, as soon as 2014 is released (in about a month), the PC player base will collapse, if history is any guide. I think you could still find games in the 2012 version for a month or two after 2013 was released but it was much harder.

As far as game-breaking bugs: there are a couple of minor ones in multiplayer related to 2 cards: you should not use Defense of the Heart or Odric in multiplayer games since they can both cause the game to crash (they both work fine in single player though and neither card is an essential inclusion in their respective decks).

The game is great; it is substantially better than the 2012 version in my opinion - all the decks are more fun to play with. But there are still a lot of annoying bugs, although they aren't really game breaking.

i'm planning on buying it today. quick question, what's the difference between gold and special edition? which one should i buy?

buy the "gold game bundle". The special edition to my knowledge is only the original game + some irrelevant extras like a sound track and digital art book. It lacks the DLC, so it is only 10 decks. The gold game bundle includes all of the DLC, which means you get 11 more decks.

The gold game bundle is here: http://store.steampowered.com/sub/26465/

Alternatively buy the "complete bundle" if you want the deck unlock keys. I personally prefer unlocking the decks manually, but it's time consuming - every win unlocks a single card, and there are hundreds of cards. So if you want to save a lot of time then the complete bundle is a good deal.
