Should I be surprised after 20 years this company is is still greedy?
Hey fellow geeks,

New to steam here but OLD-SCHOOL Magic Fan wanting to play this game for the single-player campaign. I can recall leaving the trading card game in disgust decades ago when they flooded the market w/new editions & rules thus ruining the game imo. Not that I'm against variety or anything... but the joy & talent we always got came from building and crushing opponents from deck building skills not shelling out cash for PtW uber-cards.

With all the variety in Single deck, fixed play, multi-player, and the CAMPAIGN versions out there... will one of you wise men please tell me the best value game to purchase if only interested in the solo campaign (for now) &/or making my own decks against AI?

Reading thru all the reviews & steam games available is mind boggling. Much appreciated it in advance mates!

Cheers, eliotno3

DotP doesn't let you make your own decks. You can only customize prebuilt decks.

If you're primarily interested in single-player, then it doesn't make a big difference which version you get. Personally, I'd suggest 2012, since it has the Archenemy campaign, which is more interesting (at least for single-player) than 2013's Planechase and 2014's Sealed.

Aside from that, 2013 has the best deck variety, and 2014 has.. some respectable technical improvements.
