Not working in windows 8 - FIXED
The game worked the very first time it was installed played fine, I then quit and came back to it an hour later - black screen.
Found the sticky thread about resolution issue and created the display text and bingo it worked again. BUTquit the app to change the setting to full screen and since then nothing, no resolutions work full screen, windowed, higher res, lower res, nothing.

Then tried the following following.

uninstall, re-install, restart steam - not working
Quit steam re-install xna and retry - not working

Obviously i cannot uninstall .net as it is part of windows 8 so when i try it says i already have it and it cannot be adjusted/updated/removed.

The game looks good from the 1/2 hour of play i managed to have so far.

Any suggestions for windows 8 64bit installation of this game ?

Well, that's really weird. Do you have Windows 8 Phone SDK installed? That can break things. Did the computer go into standby when you left it? Because the game can crash when it's running and the computer goes to sleep.

No dont have the SDK installed, No it didnt go into sleep i took a call and tried to re-start the game straight after (pc is set to never sleep).

It sounds very similar to the problems reported under the .net issues but as its 4.5 embedded in windows 8 i cant see any way to fix it.

Also, when i try to kill the game off using ctrl alt del and task manager the screen goes white, i can see the taskbar but i cannot get to task manager, its as if solar 2 has taken control of the primary window and wont let go so no other apps can use the viewport!

Ok Fixed it! Problem was the overlay used by EVGA monitoring software, disabled that and its all working fine now. FRAPS is ok with it but EVGA precision software overlay caused it to crash.

Thanks, I'll keep that in mind if people are having similar issues with the game.
