I focused on just eliminating planets by knocking out the outer planets and absorbing them, and knocking the inner planets into the stars. I picked up 2 or 3 life planets and then, with dumb luck on my side, most of the enemy ships were somehow destroyed, and a stray solar system smashed into the target stars, taking out most of their shields. From there I simply waited until I had a bit of shield, then rammed the stars one by one 'til the job was done.
Hooray for 100% achievements. :)
Also, I've completed all the missions.. but still no Dude, I Don't Suck achievement.. do I need to complete everything, or do you reckon it might be broken?
Oh, and I did the Hobo Star one by simply staying near other solar systems that were "bumping" the crap out of each other. 10 planets in less than a minute. Took some tries, but it was funny as hell.
I didn't complete that insanely hard achievement yet, but I'm sure that Large Stars are indeed *THE* best hint *ever*! I was trying with Neutron for like 2 hours, never got even close. And with only 3 tries using Large Star I was able to know down all planets all times. *Much* easier! Finishing off the system, however, is another story, but now at least the Achievent went from "Impossible" to "Very HArd". Thanks!
So yes, Large Star is the way to go. But not only that: the real trick is to make it chase you ASAP, and as fast as you can can, as encounters with other solar systems will damage it badly! Such crashes will do 80% of the job, you just give the killing blow.
My full strategy was:
- Begin mission as a Large Star, 2500+ mass
- Use good aim and *gently* knock its outermost planets *out*, so you capture them almost immediately. Either absorb or keep them.
- Ignore their ships, damage they do is minimal.
- Don't waste too much time on stealing/knocking. The goal is to force the stars to move, and fast. 2~3 planets is enough.
- Now run like hell, make it chase you, stay on front (faster but risky), or sideways. Make it go fast to maximize bumping into other stars systems.
- Collect any planets in the way. Keep 2 (to give you shields), absorb the others.
- Eventually it will crash badly, lose most planets and a star or two. Wait till your shields are decent and bump a star directly, or use yours planets (or theirs, if any) to weak them further.
- Let shields recharge a bit and bump again until the last star is dead.
Congratulations! Welcome to the 100% club, and enjoy being part of the elite <1% of players. :)
Wow, you did it the hard way... congrats!
