FYI, "The big crunch" is not a gigantic black hole sucking in the universe.
"The big crunch" occurs when the sum of the mass of the universe is greater than the expansion of the universe and the universe collapses on itself.

Imagine a ball being thrown at the sky, the ball must fall down. Scientists used to believe that the expansion of the universe would behave the same way. The mass of the universe would attract the expansion, and eventually there would be a collapse. This has been proven to be false in the 70s (The expansion is actually accelerating exponentially, not slowing down) and there is no big crunch ever coming.

It's a fun little game, not a hardcore science simulator

i figured something was off about that part too, thanks for clearing it up, had me worried for a day
Everything else in the game passes muster though, right?
I suppose they made the last bit not quite realistic so it's at least playable. Otherwise the only way to actually get to the big crunch would have been to assimilate all objects (suns, planets) in the complete universe and then sucking them in at once. Just imagine how long a game like that would take.

Well, if you wrote about big crunch, you could also wrote about other things. I like this game, it is nice for relaxation but there are many astronomical things that aren't like in reality. As an astrophysicist I can see many things that are unrealistic, which is pity because otherwise the game could be good for learning about some basic principles in space.

And stars colliding with planets would not lose mass... and what would be really cool is if planets could collide with other planets or asteroids and gain mass with out having suck an object in to orbit first.. and if two objects collided and were of equal mass they would break apart in to lots of little asteroids but stay held near each other while in orbit around your star.

Yep, the game isn't perfect and not wholly scientific..

We're still waiting for you to acknowledge that it hasn't actually been ruled out. :P The endgame is something that actually might happen (in fact we hope it does) told in the symbolic language established by the game from the moment it starts.

As for the real endgame... well... let's not talk about that. :derp:

If all mass is drawn back in on itself, that would include all the black holes currently in the universe. Since they can only grow bigger all you would end up with is one giant black hole at the center. So yeah, the big crunch would be one giant black hole eating everything.

Well the earliest black hole has a half life equal to double the current age of the universe. Assuming a black hole eats everything, the hawking radiation will eventually, after a long long time, dissipate the content back into energy and matter. In other words. black holes have an entropy, just like everything else.
