Message from the developers concerning the future of Nexuiz
"Thank you everyone that alerted us to Nexuiz being removed from the Steam store. We believe this is related to the liquidation of THQ assets. We hope these are the final stages of THQ's grasp on Nexuiz. Hopefully we'll have full control over the title and can do whatever we want with it again soon. At that point, we are going to try to do something special for the Steam version of Nexuiz and get it back up. There are still no plans to get Nexuiz back on XBLA.

Thanks again and hopefully we'll have more information soon! I know some of you are mad about this situation. So are we, but we will try to get this game back up and running smoothly for you soon. Right now we just can't put down the costs to maintain the game when we've never received a penny on royalties due to the THQ bankruptcy. Once THQ is completely out of the picture, we'll have more freedom to do what we can to really help.

Good news, I would really like to be able to actually play the game without it crashing or bugs making it unplayable.

I hope all goes well for you guys, it's a great game (hindered here and there by the odd bug) and I would love to be able to play with some friends rather than bots.

And I for one find the fact to be completely infuriating. I payed good ♥♥♥♥ing money for this title and now the developers aren't doing a god damn thing for it.

I just wish someone...ANYBODY at Illfonic would give us any info on the revival in this HUB.

Not on Facebook, not on their website and not on twitter. HERE, where all of what's left of Nexuiz fans are.

There were rumors that Illfonic works/worked/someone from it with CIG for star citizen's FPS part.

Yup, that's been confirmed now. They also apparently developed Sonic Blast for the Wii U which was released recently. Let's hope that brings in some money they can use to clear up the Nexuiz rights.

Misinformation galore! Sonic Blast is from 1996 while Sonic Boom was recently released by Big Red Button Entertainment. BRBE consists of people from many former studios, but Illfonic is not one of the studios listed. They were thanked in the credits of Sonic Boom due to the fact they created the Battlemode component of the game, but nothing more.

I did misremember the title of the game, yes, but Illfonic were featured pretty prominently at the splash screens of the game. Pretty much all major games these days are collaborations between multiple studios, so I think it's still as relevant to say they developed the game as it is when anybody says the new Call of Duty was developed by Treyarch, Infinity Ward or whatever (Activision got around 10 different studios working on those). The relevant part was that they were involved and presumably paid for their work with that game (which they weren't for Nexuiz, as THQ went under before that happened), which means they are in a financially better situation than they were after the launch of Nexuiz.
