Low fps and crashing gtx 670 ftw
Hey everyone, I'm running a new gtx 670 ftw with a 3.4 ghz i5 3570k cpu and am getting lower than expected fps. Perhaps this game is just more system intensive than I thought, however running on ultra 1080p I frequently get sub 30fps. Maybe my expectation are too high, however I have seen youtube videos of people maxing this game with lower specs than mine. Worse yet is the game crashes to desktop frequently. Possibly a driver issue? Im running the most current (non beta) nvidia drivers.

Specs:
geforce gtx 670 ftw
i5 3570k
8gb ram
windows 7 64 bit

I run this game maxed out at 17-22FPS with my Rig.
AMD Phenom 2 X4 960T
8GB's RAM @1600MHz
HD6850

I'm sure your drivers might be a little screwy.

I've never crashed.
With your rig you should be pushing 60+
Try turning off VSync maybe? That can sometimes give issues.

hmmm... yeah thanks for the reply, I think I've tried with and without vsync... i'll give it another shot

Another thing to try is to set the graphics to the lowest and gradually increase them until you find the balance of framerate and quality.

yeah i'm sure lowering the settings would very likely improve frame rate... mostly im just surprised that I can't seem to max this game with fully playable fps... It is definitely a good looking game but I have tested out other cryengine games on my rig such as crysis warhead, crysis 2, crysis 3 beta, and mechwarrior online, and in each of them I get generally 60+fps on the highest settings. Perhaps this game isn't very well optimized with the 6xx series of nvidia cards, I don't know. I will tinker with settings though. Also graphics certainly are not the most important aspect of deathmatch shooters like this... if it keeps crashing though I will probably go back to playing UE3 at like 200+fps... =)

Sorry *UT3

So I just played a bot match... fps was a little better 35-47. the game is just so fast anything below 60 feels inadequate to me. The game did however crash after about 2 min though. Honestly I think I'm done with this game. Thanks for the help but I'm just not sure this game is worth the headache.

UPDATE:
Just found a gpu benchmark that shows the radeon 7970 (couldn't find an nvidia one) getting an average of 38 fps on Ultra at 1080p... so I guess expecting a 60+ framerate is a little unreasonable. That said the game is still unplayable with the frequent crashes.

That crashing is on your end D:
I've never had this game crash on me. Even after playing for an hour or so.

Oh well. Play games that kick ♥♥♥.

Yeah i figured it wasn't a super widespread problem... either way I have other games to play and I'd rather not waste anymore time on this one. Maybe after a new driver release I will come back to it; but for now it's on to something else. Thanks anyway.
