Game's fate: Need some info!
I have a few simple yet important questions regarding commercial nexiuz. I know the answers and information which I seek is available from other sources and websites but for sake of speed (I cba to go searching 15 minutes) and having it readily available for curious steam-centric subscribers I would like to bring such discussion elements here.

With dedicated servers having disappeared temporarily or permanently and the reported disappearance of the official commercial nexiuz website, let's figure out what happens next and if players have options to revive this game in a more open state.

1. Does commercial nexiuz have ranked and unranked dedicated server options?

2. Does a master server for authentication and such exist somewhere and is it still running?

3. The public knowledge of the license change which occured some time ago leaves current rights to the game uncertain. Which party, for all intensive purposes, controlls nexiuz right now? Is it illfonic, thq. or another entity from thq auction?

4. Most importantly, can the players be given "the keys" to commercial nexiuz to transplant it on a community foundation and deal with the underpinnings themselves?

5. What is the current state of the license and can it be obtained or sold?

6. Has illfonic sorted the mess and decided what it can or will do?

Those asked, I don't necessarily think nexiuz should be given a new home within the community household nor do I have any leaning towards belief such a state of affairs would be successful; though stranger things have happened, you just never know and it's good to keep an open mind for even the unlikliest possibilities. I really hope a dev will read this and be able to answer some questions or link us to answers already posted elsewhere in the internet.

Most of you probably alread read this article and have noticed Illfonic's official webpage is currently down as well.

According to the most recent news about the fate of the Homeworld, Red Faction and Darksiders IP's there will be some court stuff happening on May 15, maybe there'll be some news on the fate of Nexuiz then as well.
Since commercial Nexuiz used CryEngine instead of the old idTech engine like the original Nexuiz, and CryEngine isn't open source'd, I doubt they'll be able to open up a lot about the game, even if they wanted, but maybe it could be possible to work something out on hosting servers for it.

The Xbox 360 servers were taken down back in Februrary, I assume that they killed the PC version as well.

Yeah, I think the PC version worked past february though, it must've been taken down some time in March or early April.
When THQ went down, Illfonic said that the PC versions servers wouldn't be affected by THQ's closure, as Illfonic hosted the PC servers in-house (THQ hosted the 360 servers), but apparently something has happened to the PC servers too, and considering this has been going on for at least a couple of weeks, it's probably permanent.

i hope the follow up replies will be limited to serious answers by folks who can or are part of groups that can sustain a low level yet dedicated community..

can anybody spearhead or get grass roots going for lan function "shadow community" do 20-40 players exist to make this possible if i help out? i know some people have tried really hard with the official servers to spark some pick up or even desperate pub but im onto some free time.

testing waters here and most certainly not interested in "it's not worth it here is why" or any other pent up commentary on the sad state of affairs. i'm well aware of such considerations, recommendations and what have you so thank you very much.

only interested in "yes" leaning possibilities or silence. possibilities do include official networks or lan workarounds.

a small community could thrive if driven by the right people.

i have helpful credentials.

thx bai
