The multiplayer is completely dead. That's been established by many other reviews.
That aside, this game fails utterly on its own merits. The maps are generic, nonsensical, and full of places to get stuck. They're badly lit (and there's no flashlight function) and texture flicker is everywhere. The weapons are generic, incredibly unfulfilling, and ammo allotment per weapon is pitiful - which you'd think would be mitigated by the fact that (in some game modes) you can pick up as many different weapons as you can find, but which means, in practice, that you simply get to flip through a dozen weapons trying to find the one you want. Reloading is slow, and you can't sprint while doing so, which means you end up swarmed by zombies while backpedaling furiously. The zombies themselves are generic, respawn quickly and arbitrarily, and - for some reason - have the ability to leap into the air from twenty feet away and land behind you. The vehicles, which are supposed to be the defining point of the game, are generic, driving is clunky and there is no zoom on most of the vehicle weapons, making putting rounds on target past point-blank range unlikely. To top it all off, there's a constant sense of lag, even in "singleplayer" (local server) mode - nothing feels quite as responsive or prompt as it should be.
There are absolutely no redeeming features that would prompt me to recommend this game to anyone. If you can pick it up in a bundle, you may find it slightly profitable to idle for cards; but otherwise, stay far away.
