Works on linux but no gamepad.
The game works on Ubuntu 13.04a but my XBox controller does not. I installed xpad and it worked on other games such as Dustforce. But doesn't work on this one.

I don't think Linux supports XB360 gamepads. When the game was developed, Linux was tested with Logitech Rumblepad2. XB360 controller just didn't work.

Another thing is that you need to enable gamepad in System > Input menu in the game. It's off by default.

xpad and xbdrv are two solutions to x360 gamepads on Linux, however these were uncommon at the time the game was developed...

Actually the gamepad is detected but the asis are wrong. If I press one of the triggers the ship starts to spin. All I need is to remap de axises. Is there a config file somewhere?

I tried this just now, using a DualShock 3 (works in other games - I just finished playing some Beat Hazard with it) and when I check off the box, the game crashes.

Well, perhaps all these gamepads are supported by other games via SDL2. So until DP engine gets full SDL2 support, gamepad won't work in Steel Storm unfortunately.

However, let's see what Lordhavoc has to say (he is the author of DP engine).

Any game crash is interesting to me and worth debugging. I have such a controller here and will need to debug what's going on there.

However as motorsep noted, if we switch to libSDL2 we will automatically get gamepad support without need to configure axes/buttons across the majority of gamepads out there.

I hope you will switch to libSDL2, I really want to play this game with my xbox 360 gamepad.

And btw, Linux supports the XBOX 360 controller very well. No matter if you use xpad or xboxdrv. I only use this gamepad here on my Linux machine.

+1 the same issue. To move strait I have to hold LT in center position, it's impossible to play for me.

XB360 Gamepad is not supported on Linux in DP engine. Only standard 6-axis pad is supported. Although on Windows, XB360 is supported properly.

This is just a matter of the axes mapping, which IS configurable in the menu (by sliders) last I looked, and has been for a long time, so I'm not sure what makes you think it is stuck using LT for turning? Every gamepad on the market has different axes mapping, the menu exists to configure these things because of that variance across PC hardware.

My OS - Ubuntu 12.04. My controller - Logitech F310. Option "turn axis" replaced by "3", axis works, buttons manually appointed. You can play. Button LT and RT and cross do not work.

Cross, or D-pad, never worked. Not even on Windows as I recall. Also, Logitech Rumblpad 2 has no triggers. And that's what we used when we developed the game. So triggers were only supported foir XB360 gamepad on Windows.
