Demo impressions
I like the simple gameplay and how it combines elements of bullet hell with third person hovercraft combat.
Two points I disliked:

- Upon your first death in the mission, you lose whatever secondary weapon you have, and you never get to pick it up again.
- No checkpoints or autosaves, and number of ships (lives) per level is pretty low.

Not sure I'll buy it. The weapon stinginess is pretty annoying and gets in the way of the fun.

Also I can't seem to be able to switch from top-down view to third person view. Pressing the key doesn't do anything. Maybe it's disabled in the demo? Why would it be disabled?

This is a hardcore aspect of the game - gotta either use different strategy (use up a life or two, then on last attempt pick up weapons and complete the mission) or beat mission from the first attempt. One you acquired weapon and completed the missions without dying, you retain it till the end of the camapign no matter what.

It's a hardcore game :) There is an arcade level of difficulty where enemies are weaker in general.

I recall it's disabled in the demo.

Ah, I guess I approached this as a more casual game, I am not much for hardcore. A difficulty setting would have helped... Thanks for answering so fast!

There is difficulty settings when you start the game and then you can change it in your profile. Arcade and Classic. Arcade is much easier than Classic.

So I've reached Chapter 2 and finished the first mission in it. I have unlocked the Storm Plow, Flak Cannon, MIRV, Rocket Pod, Booster, and Spread Plow.

I started playing the 2nd mission in Chapter 2, but had to abort midway because I had to go out.

Now I launch the game again to restart that mission, and I find that my profile only has the normal cannon and the Storm Plow unlocked. Where did all my weapons go? I don't have them anymore.

Also, the store page screenshots seem to show a close view third person camera

And the game has a Camera button. But I press it and nothing happens. How do I switch to this close 3rd person camera view?

Each Campaign you start from scratch, no weapos get carried between campaigns.
Third person mode is locked and it gets unlocked when you beat the game. This way you can replay your favorite missions in than view mode.
In multiplayer however it's always unlocked and Q is a hotkey to switch in between TP and top-down views.
