Suggestion: make a new trailer... this one feels like a train wreck
I thought the trailer was laughably bad (like a really crap tv commercial for the "cluless grandparent" audience) and should seriously be redone if you want to appeal to the PC gaming community in particular. The whole thing just absolutely stank of an ad agency that has never played a game before. The upside is that it did show enough gameplay for me to be interested, but it's wrapped in a godawful package. And portraying the audience as total idiots? Not a great move if you ask me (nobody actually thinks like the narration and it comes off really degrading).

Developers that are gamers should really be making the trailers, not ad agencies that don't have a clue about the industry.

I actually quite liked the trailer. It was entertaining and educational, job well done.

I too liked the trailer. It does the job very well and that is to appeal to a wide audience base in a fun and witty way. I did not find it degrading in any way.

Love the trailer. It explains the basic mechanics and makes for a good parody of a TV commercial. Made me add the game to my wishlist and come into forums looking for opinions.

I wish we we're big enough to hire an ad agency. :)
We did the trailer ourselves and love it. But obviously not all of us like the same things. No harm done...

Trailer was great! I dont think it was condescending or felt like it was meant for grandparents or other "clueless" audiences. It felt very much like it meant to explain the concept of the game to someone who has never played this specific game. It was certainly a fresh take on the typical "Heres some generic gameplay shots with some fading-in text" trailers that the indie genre is littered with.

It did well at explaining how the game plays without being a sad generic trailer like most other games.

I too loved the trailer. I thought it was a great mix of funny and informative. The swim goggles were a little weird but what ever. it just added to that weird charm the game seems to go for.
P.S. Pre-ordered the game via humble store and have clocked a few hours and must say i love it. couldn't help but smile the whole time.

I actually thought the trailer was pretty good.
I thought it was way better then most of the other trailers.
BTW Have you ever thought of smashing Vincent's computer so he can't play anymore XD

Maybe they were going for '90s ironic? It was pretty miserable. Unless the postive comments here are straight from the AD agency, there are people who actually respond to this type of pandering. Go figure.

Not really. 90% of trailers i see are all cinimatic or very short gameplay clips with review quotes everywhere and hardly ever tell you anyhing about the game being advertised. this trailer showed tons of gameplay, explained the gameplay and matched the games silly humour. I sure it could have been better but i'd say it was a damn sight better then most other game trailers nowadays.

I think there's a irony here because the ads for this game have been consistently amongst the best I've seen for ANY game.

The release one isn't the best but it's still head-and-shoulders ahead of most

I guess the OP wants more WubWub and 99 Problems...

I guess the dialog is what make me cringe. The things you mention are correct though, and in that sense it is good.

I think it beats the hell out of the dubstep heavy trailers of today

I really liked the trailer it was enough to make me buy the game, It shows the game play and how annoying it will be to try and beat your friends on the boards.

I bought the game because of that trailer and really enjoy it so far :)
