Note This Review talks MUCH about the CONSOLES VERSION and told storyline with NO BIG SPOILERS will be told on the bottom.
Best in the series. I've played for about a few minutes on the PC edition but the console versions are better unless you have the "Gentlemen Of The Row" mod that fixes the game. Also 125+ hours spent on the Xbox version single player, 10+ hours co-op, 2+ hours multiplayer (which still works)
+ Superb graphics even in todays standards
+120% larger map compaired to the first
+ Wonderful Soundtrack (My Chemical Romace, Panic! At The Disco, Paramore, Death From Above 1979) (80's, Rock, Electro, Metal, 70's, Reggae, Hip-Hop/Rap, Classical, World, Collage Radio)
+ Story contains a Prologue, Gangs (Three), an Epilogue, and Extras (DLC and a Secret Mission)
+The gangs can be completed how ever you want
+Customisation is a big part of the game (How you dress, body and face modeling, Cribs, tatoos, a walking style???, and different voices)
+Unlike SR3 this lets you replay missions and watch cutscenes
+Minigames that are fun
+ Random Hood fights
+32 secret areas, 9 homies that help as sidekicks, 42 cars (not counting the regular cars on streets or parked), 5 hidden tracks, 50 walls to spray, 90 shops to own, 11 cribs to own, 80 stunt jumps, 35 barnstorms
+ Two DLCs on PS3 and Xbox 360 not counting the free one
+ Mildly active Multiplayer on consoles
+ Counts how much bullets you put into bodys
+ Rewards you in game weapons and clothing for playing Side missions and Story Missions
+Many indoor areas (Either look hard for them or play the story to find them
+Each District looks different
+Has a still active community of moders (More music, bug fixes, graphic enhancements)
- Will Lag if too much happening on screen
- No custom soundtrack where you can put your OWN music in unlike the first
- Hard even on the Casual difficulty
The story takes place after the first game.
Prologue: Your character wakes up in the Stilwater Prison Infirmary after the final mission of Saints Row. You meet a man named Carlos who tells you that you've been in an coma for almost five years and that the Saints have been taken out by the three new gangs of Stilwater. You then escape the prison via a boat you and Carlos have just stolen. After gunplay on the back of the boat, Carlos shows that Ultor (prevously a clothing company) has taken control as sort of a government to the city. During the second mission we see Jonny Gat, a former saint, about to be given the death penalty. Before that happens though your character frees Jonny and has to get the Saints back together. Insert Pierce, Shaundi, and Carlos. Three new members your character brings into the gang.
Gangs: Your character gives these three members different gangs to look after.
The Ronin: The Ronin are looked after by Pierce. The Ronin are a Jappenese gang controled by a young man named Shogo. His father, Akuji. later comes into the story after hearing his son is dissapointing him. The Ronin wear black and yellow colours and use samurai swords as melee weapons.
The Brotherhood: During the first mission your character and Carlos go to see the Brotherhoods leader, Maero, to make an agreement with both gangs and split Stilwater but, the Stilwater Police show up, abruptly ending the conversation. When back at the Brotherhood's base of opperations, the character and Maero have an arguement over how the deal goes when Maero tells that the Saints take 20% of Stilwater and the Brotherhood taking 80% of the rest.
The Sons Of Samedi: Samedi are a group of drug dealers with a famous product named Loa Dust. With a leader called The General, a bodyguard named Mr. Sunshine, and a deadbeat DJ named Veteran Child these guys dress in Jamacian styled clothing and uses Voo-Doo powers.
Epilogue: After the Gangs are taken out the Saints direct their attention to Ultor and try to take them out. This finale is something to look for as I can't give out any information of missions for possible spoilers.
In the end this game is hours of entertainment. I've been playing since 2012 and am still finding new stuff in it. If you still aren't sure, watch Nerdcubed's video on it. 10/10 In My Opinion
