I require assistance (Start up issues)
The game cannot start up normally, instead it appears in a small window then crashes, I tried to install Gentlemen's of the row mod to see if that fixed it and nothing, reinstalled the game and still kept crashing.

Anyone know a fix? I haven't had this issue on my previous PC and this is competently new to me, is it because I'm using Windows 8?

Thank you for reading.

I'm running Windows 7 and the issue is happening to me as well, no mods used or tried before. This just happened recently not sure why, I have quite a few hours on the game and this has never been an issue before. Verifying the game cache doesn't help either.

I'm haveing the same problem with win7 and no mods ever used. I also would like to know a fix / work around because this is kind of annoying.

It's a common issue. Are you running on duel Monitor? If you are, disable one of them and it should start up. Then go to option and set it to windowed mode. You can google it, you'll find a solution since it's a common issue.

SR2 Might not be compatible with win 8 at all. If it has boot problems with a duel screen system then win 8 incompatability would be a more likely reason. To date there are still lots of older games that can not and will not run on win 8 I suspect SR2 is one of them.

Some people do use Windows 8 and it does work with Saints row 2, sadly I'm not one of the lucky ones :/.

It's an old game my best sugestion would be to do a dule boot with win 7 or vista (shudders). There are a few old games I would love to play again but sadly will never work with evan vista. Sim Tower being one of those. Sadly with the masive coruption of some nameless OS makers they decide to release buggy software that costs an arm and a leg and makes some games unplayable due to boot problems, but that is the forward movement of tech.

I just said I seen some people with windows 8 being able to play the game, so there is a fix out there.

I know what you said I can read. But a fix, maybe not. It could be many diffrent kinds of reasons your copy dose not work. For instance you could have programs on your PC that those others do not that prevent your copy from working. So if you have seen them play SR2 on win 8 ask them, most that play PC don't use win 8 because win 8 sucks balls. Evan Bill Gates him self said if you are useing a desktop, don't get win 8.

Only one game I got doesn't work on my Win 8 PC, most games I own are even older then SR2. The only one that doesn't work is Dino D-day (Which I really don't care about so its not a big loss)

Also Windows 8 is not as bad as you think, Windows 7 is better, but 8 is decent and I enjoy using it.

No it is worse than I think. But mostly because it is a waste of money for touch screan capeabilitys, and on a desktop who in the hell needs that any way?

Also if you are on a laptop then my only question would be.
Why in the hell are you playing on a laptop?

Yes true laptops have portability but a medium powered desktop can out do what any laptop can. The point is that laptops just are not up to par yet with a desktops power. (by that I mean CPU speed, memory amount, video memory, and a few other hardware capabilitys of a desktop)

I'm not on a laptop and I don't have touch screen.

Also last time I used a Laptop was like 8 or so years ago, I can't stand them.

So why have win 8 at all? When win 7 has none of the extra frills that you don't use any way. Like I said win 8 is a waste of money unless you have a laptop or a touch screen.
