whats up with the FAF client i hear people talk about in some cast?

i hear stuff like upcoming (balance) patches. in a video of a week old. (brnkoinsanity this guys youtube's channel )

i assume these (balance) pathes are only be downloadable in the FAF client.
cause there are no update in the steam version.

Here is a description taken directly from the page:

"Forged Alliance Forever (commonly abbreviated to FAF) is a community-driven project designed to ensure that Forged Alliance will live on… forever. It is a complete lobby client system, similar to that of GPGNet was, the default client provided with Forged Alliance, but with many improvements:

Updated game. FAF is not only a lobby, and it’s not a mod: We are constantly adding features, graphics and sounds enhancements, bug fixes and balance patches to the game.

Active development. GPGNet is dead. Steam version won’t be updated. FAF is under active development to continually add new and exciting features, and ensure that any bugs discovered will be quickly dealt with.

Longevity. FAF is a community-supported project, and already has funding to support its server for several years.

Cooperative campaign. The solo mode of Supreme Commander and Forged Alliance (a total of 24 missions) are playable with up to four players in cooperation! Fight for the best time in the speed-run leader board !

Live replays are always on and always working, with a 5-minutes delay to remove the possibility of cheating during tournaments or ranked games.

Responsiveness. Chat is fast, unlimited, and can be joined with any IRC client, even on your smart-phone. FAF is designed from the ground up to be lightweight, responsive, and efficient.
12 player games. 5v5s and 6v6s are possible on FAF.

Non-destructive patching. It patches the game separately from your current installation. That means that you can continue to use your original game and FAF concurrently – they do not “overwrite” each other."

you both should download it. you do not change anything with the original game. not one bit.
it is really really awesome work that has been done there

well, if you want to play with FAF you obviously both needed, yet you can still play wwithout FAF if one doesnt have it

Nope, I'm not BRNK, but I do enjoy his casts too, he even casted one of my games ^^

oh lol the a.i is vicious in this game didnt expect a a.i tweak. got steam rolled on normal diffeculty :(

looking a single medium player's 1v1 replay or video will save you days of learning in ~20 min (i'm serious)

iam doing that all day right now watching replays and tutorials.
i only rts i played was sins of a solar. and star wars battlegrounds (way back in time)

and still dont manage to beat a easy a.i in faf client.

in the steam client on easy the a.i does practicly nothing.
it feels like i am playing on cheating a.i in the steam client.

well i aint given up. i want to beat at least beat a normal a.i in FAF client.

I have played star wars battlegrounds and the ai in there seemed to give up after you kill a whole bunch of their units EVEN THOUGH YOU NEVER KILLED A SINGLE STRUCTURE!

ah i forgot supcom 2. but that one was consolified

never got that happening. i always was fighting hordes and hordes of enemies

well... FAF uses the Sorian AI which plays way more inline with multiplayer tactics (but it's still no match for most players :D )

getting (slightly) better. i managd to beat a easy a.i in the FAF client.= adaptive in steamclient
