I have been playing on the steam version of FA for about 3 weeks now. Knowing that a larger FAF community existed but i had not been bothered to downloading the launcher thinking i would have another huge download on the list.

But i tell you now the steam version is S%$t compared to FAF. Yesterday i downloaded the launcher for FAF and it turns out you dont need to redownload the whole game, only about 200 mbs of patches and you can use the steam base model. It has a much larger community(always atleast 2-3 lobbys at any one time), which on steam you would be lucky to get one at a time. Also the game has a whole range of new and exciting maps and many other features like Co-op camp missions, a variety of game modes/mods, it is free for thoes who are strapped for cash and most importantly ALOT of bug fixes.

I am glad that i have changed from the steam version(which is dead) to the alive and prospurous Forged Alliance Forever community. I felt the need to make this article as in my opinion it will enhance and enrich everyones gaming experience for such a classic game.

If 'idc' means 'I don't care' then that shows the general attitude of the FAF populace and why plenty of people stay away from it. Honestly even if it's the greatest thing ever, why do we need non-stop repeat posts about it? I know no one is willing to sticky it and we had 1 thread that's been chosen to be bumped un-molested but this is annoying at this point and will start to drive people away once they realize every post about FAF is fu--ing spam.

We can't really stop people opening threads about how they like FAF, we don't have any control over the population :)

One other thing, all the threads here are either about how steam version doesn't work or how FAF is better.

It's really up to you to open a thread/make the steam community alive if you want a better ratio of threads.

The (sad?) reality is that there is no "FA steam community" left.
You can scream and cry about how every thread is about PC games and not Amiga, that won't change the fact that Amiga is long gone.

Not a single damned thing I typed has anything to do with the changelog. I said, even if FAF is the best thing ever we don't need non-stop spam posts about it. They get annoying, clutters up the forum.

I play semi regularly and Steam is plenty good enough. People should be less confrontational in this forum, we're all interested in the same thing after all (FA btw).

It depends when you are going online, but there is a lot of new players on peak time when I connect.
Also, the upcoming matchmaker will fix this "issue" :)

host your own game? if the game says 500+ then its 500+ and not U300

if FAF is so great then you should be trying to get it as a steam mod for the game like the Just Cause 2 MP mod. then you could probably get more steam players to play on it.

Why exactly do you think the most competitive play is on FAF and not on steam? You seriously belive there were just some random changes made? The are hundreds and hundreds of sites of discussion even about the smalest changes, also by some of the best players FA has by the time.

Now, that said: The original version of the game 3696, or for that sake 3599 the mod you play here on steam, is the community balance mod, which was made with/by the same guy who made FAF, which was renamed to 1.0 because steam version start with 1.0.

FAF is a lobby, not a mod. Nothing prevents you from playing any mod/version on FAF.

Now that also said i simply lack the understanding of what you want to say.
