Need help. Game wont launch. Tried everything.
I have played this game for well over a year with no issue. Last night I installed some software which I think has corrupted the game. I have since removed the software. Every other game on still steam works, just not forged alliance. Even supreme commander works. I have :

- Verified the game cache
- Changed the launch options
- Totally unistalled and reinstalled (both supcomm and FA)
- Ran as administrator
- Changed the compatability mode to multiple settings
- Deleted the game pref file from the FA folder

The game shows that its running by changing my status, and the a seconds later tells me I am just online. Have I just lost FA forever? Please help me resolve this issue, ive tried everything :(

PS. I would rather not play FAF as all my friends just play FA multiplayer.

delete all addware, uninstall old version of corel draw if you have one, uninstall google desktop, tell your friends to use FAF try to start direcly over the steam exe in the folder, try to replace the steamexe with another exe

I got mine working now after days of dealing with the same issue. I found a program that was installed on my PC, and I have no idea how it got there. Must be from one of the updates that I did recently for NVIDIA. Anyway, here's what I did...hope it works for you too as it worked for me.

I found this program called SearchProtect by Conduit. When I accessed the Task Manager, I saw it under the Process tab. I tried to End Process it a couple of times and it does. But FA would not still run. When you look under the Control Panel to uninstall it...it's not listed in there. So I went to C: Program files(x86) and found the folder SEARCHPROTECT. Opened it up and under the folder BIN there should be an UNINSTALL executable in there. Uninstalled it then I opened up STEAM and VERIFIED FA files. After the verification, I closed out STEAM (as in totally stopped it). Opened up STEAM again and RUN FA under it. And it worked! I quit the game and went back to my Windows Desktop Home and tried to RUN the game this time by clicking the shortcut and it worked, without a glitch.

I don't know if this process would work for you or to anybody else, but I know how frustrating this whole thing has become. And I'm sure you're at the point of trying anything else too. Well, hope this helps. It worked for me, so I hope that it would work for you too.

GOOD LUCK.

Razier it worked. I can't believe it. You have just ended 6 hours of working out what the problem was. Please accept my friend request and I will send you a game of choice. Thank you so much for your help.

For me the game won't launch if msi afterburner is running, the same hapens with castlevania lords of shadow, i don't know why, Is just a kind of incompatibility between the game and some background programs.

This is unlikely to be the cause, but if other options do not work, i suggested doing a clean install of all required redistribuables.

Thanks. That fixed mine too.
Now the question being; Why would a program that prevents changes to a browser affect this game?
