Quite possibly one of the best RTS games I have played in my life. The mechanics are impeccable, gameplay is tight, and the single-player doesn't disappoint too much. The concept of focused engineering and streaming economies is very cool, and I put many, many hours into this game.
Be warned that there is a learning curve if you have played other RTS games before, but the tutorial section does a good job of explaining the basics. The single-player campaign is a very good way to learn the basics, as the deck isn't really stacked that badly against the users. That said, you can amp up the challenge in Skirmish matches by picking AI templates that can cheat (which is also an amazing feature)
It being 2014, the graphics now look a little dated (especially textures) but it still remains one of the best-looking RTS games of its time, and still manages to look pretty good. The user interface manages to be very comprehensive out of the box, but can be made more minimal if needed. The UI also presents more features (visibility, command, etc) than I have seen in other RTS franchises. I am seriously never going back to Starcraft!
The downside to all these features is the complexity (and the learning curve mentioned above) but those are all quite easily manageable. There is a very helpful WIki for those looking to really plan out their games. I'll finish by saying that if you like traditional RTS games, you'll be in for an awakening!
