Cheap Mega Man knock off
A.R.E.S is nothing more than a cheap Mega Man imitation that lasts all of 3 hrs and involves no tactical thought to dealing with bosses at all. Simply stand in one corner and blast away. I was kind of hoping this would be the spiritual successor to the blue bomber on PC but I left feeling utterly disappointed at all the missed oppertunities and the lazy game design. Even if a second installment rears its head, I think I am gonna pass on this one. Yeah I know its Indie, but that doesn't mean its a good Indie.

To be honest, I welcome this game as another try for someone to create a good megaman-like sidescroller, capcom have been doing NOTHING with the whole megaman franchise so this is at least a signal that the genre isn't dead... I'm just happy to see another sidescroller of this type.

I definitely agree with you on the Mega Man bit...once upon a time he held a high place at Capcom headquarters but he seems to be out on his backside at the moment. Perhaps he is no longer cool enough for the kids today. I would love to see the Mega Man franchise return to its roots, like the good old 8/16 bit days, those games were such classics. However, I don't necessarily think we should settle for any old side scroller even if it fills a gap left by the Blue Bomber. If anything A.R.E.S just makes you realise how much better those older Mega Man episodes where.

Yeah the game is somewhat generic and lacks flair.. i solved it and never had any idea what the diferent suits were meant for. I was hoping for a metroid style game with exploration and stuff wich it didnt really deliver:/
