I'm not sure what they are going to do with Eli being dead. Maybe revive his soul? He was so pro.

In HL3 Gordon (the hero) will probably die. And valve had better make it a worthy ending for our stalwart hero

Yeah I will agree on that.

I trust valve-more than any other developer.

"Revive Eli's soul" someone said.

Ew. This is not some religious ressurection story. This is a dark sci-fi. Eli better well remain dead. Yes, we liked him... and that makes his death an even more important aspect of HL3.
It would be like time traveling to stop the resonance cascade... pointless overturning of the plot.

I also seriously doubt that Chell will be in the game. Portal took place during the events of HL2... Portal 2 took place MANY years later. So no, she will not be in this game. And thats GOOD... we already have enough characters to care about (Barney, for example, where is he?)
That does not address the issue of how you will get Chell, in Minnisota (on foot), to where Freeman is, in the artic, or vice versa.

The thing about killing off Gordon... the players experience and Gordons is meant to be the same. It would mean that his 'real' death (who has not died multiple times while playing?) would literally be the end of the game. Dead, roll credits. That does not seem to fitting to me personally.

You could try to have a meaningful epiloge, but again, that would not be Gordons experience, which is out of style for HL

How about Gordon Freeman going on a time machine and travelling back OVER 9000 years to rid the world of all the nasty Combine.

Oddly, this was the first over 9000 joke that has made me laugh in over a year. I didn't see it before starting to read.
