Wow, Whirlpool is hard
I have to say, Whirlpool is interesting, but there's a few waves that I am finding very hard. The map itself lays out very differently (or at least for me it does) than any of the other maps I've played. It is a good map if you want to get some of those cumulative kill achievements; I've never seen so many of some enemy classes at once on any other map. Right now, I'm stuck on wave 16 (Spitters and Soakers) at Normal; going from 100% to defeat in the one wave...on a previous try, I made it past that, only to collapse at wave 18 (Tanks+Bobbleheads) - never seen so many of those either. The global achievement stats suggest that not many people have completed it, and I can see part of why. Definitely tricky; I think the overall layout of my maze is at least ok, but I may have to knock it down in difficulty just to get past this one for now...

Watching TigerHawkins videos on this map at Insane with 100% core is both inspiring and humbling. Also informative in terms of technique and loadout; I'm giving it another try. Its at least a bit comforting to know that the waves that gave me the most problems are also ones that looked the most difficult for him (had to run furthest in the maze to finish them off).

I managed 100% on Insane on the first try. My only problem with the map is if you use the teleporter you can end up disorientated.

that video(s) were a ton of fun to make. so much chaos, and in singleplayer, it features the most enemies. the waves with runners have 160 in the wave. not counting other enemies that make appearances alongside it.

yeah, i'm having problems with the overlay, too. says i'm facing one way when i'ma ctually facing 90 degrees away, so that confuses me.
led to so many wtf moments in a wave... hopefully a bug fix or soemthign will catch it. *shrug*

i had reported that bug when i tested it. but so much energy goes into sanctum 2, they're hard pressed to have time to fix it.

It's too bad whirlpool kind of forces a specific load out.
